Why not bring it here? Same engine as evora should be easy to certify.

I think it's either an airbag or chassis certification issue, not an engine issue.

On one of the GT3 variants, Porsche had to spend over 200K Euros to design and certify one little side marker.

Here's a link to an OK factory video on the 2012 Exige S:

Lotus couldn't get an exemption for "passenger weight variable airbags", so the car will be track only in the U.S.

I think it was a huge mistake not making this street legal but oh well. I'll keep my 211. |

Harris tests the new Exige S:
It's a shame that we allow the Nannies to keep cars like this out of this country. |

I am really REALLY bummed that this car isn't coming to the U.S. (for street use).

It's not street legal...wonder if they could have made it street legal by supplying it with only one seat.
Suzuki Samurai used to be imported with no rear seats so it could be classified as a truck. The dealer would then add the seats (I think it was at "no charge") and sell it. With one seat, this could have been classified as an enclosed motorcycle. ![]() Heck, even as a single seat motor vehicle, it would have sold. Dealers and aftermarket suppliers could have offered a "seat and non-compliant airbag kit" that owners could have installed at their own risk. |

Looks really good, doesn't seem too aggressive though.

I love it but wondering why it's an "Exige roadster" and not an Elise.
