RS211

It's been almost a year since being rear ended on the FWY by a chuckle head Porsche driver but he may have done me a favor since this never would have come to light...
Will be on the road this coming week..

Yes it is, due to the fact that the old custom bodywork was bonded together, there were stress cracks through out the body when it ended up against the concrete wall.

So we stripped the old body and I came up with this version of a Lotus 211..
I shaped it from expandable foam and then wet laid carbon fiber.

 

Thanks, I just couldn't walk away from such a perfect chassis and drivetrain. Even though it's styling may not be to everyone's liking I dig it and that's all that matters in the end..

I will never do another mental rebuild again, not being a body guy I now have a new respect for their work and to those that do custom work I tip my hat...

Now to get it back on the road and piss off all the haters once again..

 

Thanks guys, my buddy Mike and I did the bodywork, SCC didn't want any part of the job and to be honest I'm glad I didn't have to deal with them again..

It's just my other canyon cruiser, I won't be taking it to the track unless there is serious money on the line... The last thing I want to do is push it off the road and wreck it.
This sucker cost me 11 months of my own labor and who knows how much money to build it.

It will be a little while before I get the chance to do a video of the car due to cervical spine surgery I had last week...
I'm thinking of showing it at the Rodeo Drive car show this Father's Day if I feel up to it, so if you'd like to see what can be done to a Lotus in order to really carve the canyons come by and say hi..

Here's a little video from last year, just a nice little cruise with some of my R1 and other liter bike friends.
Anyone that says a car is faster in the canyons than a bike has never run with anyone that can ride... Isle of Mann come to mind ?
Now imagine what the new build will do with its better grip and 400 lb. diet.

The first time back in the car last night after some stupid serious spinal surgery I was able to test out the new gear ratios to see what things will feel like once I'm up to speed again.
