Word is ..... there's a preview of the new car at the factory in mid-February, before it is being introduced at Geneva. I wonder what they are doing to it ??
Boy, that 'old' version sure did not last very long. Only two and half years .... I wonder what that does to the value of the 2012-21013 cars ? Yikes !!! :(

The majority of the rags preferred the 458 over the 12c so I imagine the mcl boys are hard at work to knock it off it's perch- then Ferrari will make changes, porsche is coming into the segment, etc. Never ends......

What does Porsche have that fits into the 458 segment?

Would be nice of McLaren to call the new car the 12D, to distinguish it from the 12C.

Supposedly a non-hybrid (ie just the v8) coupe based on the 918.

If the car is still similar to the 12C, then first generations will drop even faster. Good news for those wanting to buy one.

Ah, another non owner "lamenting" depreciation on the 12C. My car has suffered 100% depreciation since I am still driving it and spent the money. I am so depressed.

Depends on the increase in performance vs. cost ratio, i.e. would you pay an extra $100k for 34hp more and a different front facia?

I think you are dreaming if you expect 2012 12Cs to become dramatically cheaper. The big hit is over and next gen car will probably be $325K. You are unlikely to get a 50% discount or more from that any time soon.

    I agree.

decent comps would be Gallardos, 1st gen vs LP560 or 997.1 vs 997.2 Porsches...when the updated cars come out there isn't a big shift downward on the previous generation, they might drop a bit more (5% or so) but it's not like they tank another 25%.

Smooth, what did you replace your 12C with?

The market knows that new cars are coming out and self-adjusts accordingly. Like you said there might be some negligible shift but the market expects cars to age and to be replaced.

I see 150 in a year/ maybe 18 months after the new car is shown and it gets close to the new 458 .

Seriously. Not every car but some good ones will go for that. There are asking prices of $185 now and they are not blowing out the doors.

When you can get a 2012 12c for about the same price as a used 2012 California or 2008 F430, that's one hell of a bargain. You can get that pretty much now.

The problem for Mac is going to be, is the new car really worth double a low mileage 12c? And, will the new one fall off the depreciation cliff like the last one did. Certainly, some people can and will throw 60 to 80 grand away in a year on a sports car... but not everyone.

    Senna,
Nothing, presently. Not much really appeals to me: Not feeling the Huracan, Not interested in playing the Ferrari price game, Don't want another McLaren.
I think I'll give the Americans a shot and see how the top dog Z06/Z07version hangs with the big boys. I looked at a standard C7 recently, and found nothing wrong whatsoever with it's interior. No better or worse than the Lambos or the Mac that I owned.
On paper .... It's a road warrior, and I bet it will live up to the hype also. They are not playing games over there anymore; they are out for blood! ;)
    Cheers :)

I loved the C7 I sat in as well, I think they are terrific, once again, I wish you would have had a better experience with your 12C, as my car has been excellent and my dealer top notch. I agree about the Huracan as well, I think the C7 is a terrific car. Either way best too you.

    I'd buy a C7 z06 and a Viper TA before a Huracan, 12C, 458 etc.

if one is good two is better ;)

Yeah but then you have two insurance payments, two registrations, two spaces, etc. But seriously one would cancel out the other, how about a C7 Z06 and a Cayman "S"?

    Tony,
I very much wanted to have that 'new' Lotus Esprit that never was. I spent time with that prototype, and it was so damn nice inside and out.
I agree with many who say: 'Nothing handles like a Lotus'. ;)

That was such a tease when they had a potential 5 new models for the future.
What insights did you have on the "new" Espirit? Is the project scrapped for good? Very unfortunate

The car was fantastic looking in person, the engine that Wolf Zimmermann (formally AMG) designed looked like it was going to be truly unique. I think Lotus is just hanging by their financial fingernails, presently.
A very old pal was head of Lotus in the U.S.
Last I heard ... it was on a back, back burner. What a shame they could not make this happen. :(

Well the name is out. It is going to be called a 650S. It is going to basically be an update on the 12C.

Hopefully it will be more of an update than the 2nd gen California ;-)
