Aston Martin DB5 lives on in 'new' British sports car Aston Martin DB5 lives on in 'new' British sports car | Autocar David Brown Automotive will launch 'retro' sports car in Monaco next month; Speedback GT is based on Jag XKR platform and will command six-figure price tag
front end is DB4 and rear end is DB6, I guess that averages out to a DB5. wheels look terrible, whole thing would look better with different wheels.
I think it looks very nice. I like the idea of pic-nic seats at the back of the car. Very useful for attending Goodwood or Ascot.
I like that much more. This one is stubby, pudgy and those mirrors are horrible. Just losing the mirrors might help a lot.
No No No! The road to hell is paved with good intention. This car is an abomination. Looks like a very bad fibreglass body kit fitted to a BMW mini by a 17 year old to make it look like an Aston. When will these companies wake up and smell the coffee. Go create something new, not make an abortion of something historical that we all love. Just my opinion of course!
The gaping maw of a grille does it no good. Fail. And, while he may be David Brown, he ain't David Brown and shouldn't trade on it.
It will never be mistaken for an early 1960's AM with that Grille. Without the grille it just has no connection. That grille was AM in that era. Agree with above poster the wheels are ugly and appear to have too many spokes - clutter. DB achieved a difficult thing an ugly wire wheel.
Putting styling aside, which is not totaly unappealing, what you have is an auto XKR underneath. Kinda like those new vettes with 50s body styling. Part of what made the db series astons so appealing was the way they drove the charisma of the motor etc. What we have here is a not unattractively regilded Jag, but its jujst a restyled Jag. Surely if one buys a bespoke car the whole experience should be unique and special.
I like it even its not a car for me. Great to see someone trying to produce bespoke car in this day and age. Unfortunately internet will always give 20 negatives for every positive response
Internet is a representation of people in real life. So if it's 20 negatives for every positive, that means it's probably the same proportions of likes to dislikes in the real world too. Majority is not always right, of course, but if you like this, you have lousy taste.
^ You are right. And it's time to keep the averages. You guys are too harsh. The styling isn't that bad. And I do like the idea that they are going after a different goal. Change the wheels and it would be nice.
