Some of you may well know how for the past 2 years I've been searching for a Euro 308. Well, I missed the best opportunity last year when one was available just a few towns over at a very reasonable price. Since then, prices for 308s have gone up, as they well deserve too, but I just didn't want to spend that kind of money on another old car… I already have 2 (64 XKE and 72 MB), instead I opted to find something newer. And so I found a 2009 XKR Portfolio Coupe with 18,800 miles on the clock that caught my attention, and hit the buy button. Unfortunately, I received it last week, the day before we were hit with the snow storm. After a short evening drive, she's now tucked away in the garage until the roads clear up a bit.

    Beautiful car!

What is the other car in the driveway? Looks like an old Benz.

Congrats. I've had a 2012 XK Portfolio Coupé - these cars are very reliable. A classy beautiful
Gran Turismo, it's a shame Jag cancelled the XK.

    Have fun, enjoy her.

Yeah, the F-type is sharp, but I think appeals to a younger market. I prefer the XK's sophistication. Sad the the XKs have come to an end, but I believe design will hold up for years to come.

Great car. I had a 2012 XKR. Get a pulley and tune. It makes the car properly fast. I have had mine on track and an equally driven 458 couldn't pull too far away from me. :)

I'm negotiating to buy a 2009 XKR-S this evening... nice convertible. Hopefully, it will work out.

There are a couple great newer cars that make more sense to own now verse going the older route - especially if you're getting tired of fixing things all the time. You found a value! If you hold it long enough it will become collectable! Enjoy!

    …for the comments.

Good luck with the purchase Mike.. keep us posted.

As soon as the weather breaks around here, I take some nice photos… right now the roads are covered with salt, sand, slush or ice. She's pretty much staying in the garage for now.

    Thanks!

Actually, I bought it... just haven't had time to take any photos.

Immediately put new tires on it, and 'while you're in there' had tie rod ends replaced and a brake job.

Had the shop put it on the computer to check for codes. They cleared all the existing codes, and after a week of driving it took it back and... no codes! *whew!*

    Pics soon!

    Is the 280 a 4.5?

My dad bought one new. Wonderful automobile.

    Nice collection. Enjoy.

Thanks, yeah, its a 4.5 / 8 cylinder gas guzzler, but it is a smooth ride and has nice power.

This is what i spend the most time driving during the week and all winter….

    Congrats Mike.
I took my ('13) XKR convertible out yesterday for the first time in 2015.
It's just an impressive ride. You'll love it.

    Cheers

Well.. I did it again... bought another Jag... this time a 2008 XK. So, now I have the XK-R convertible (2007), and an XK hard top (2008).

If anyone in the US is going to their Jag dealer anytime soon, please let me know. I need to get a new doughnut spare for the XK and they don't stock them here in Kuwait.

Send me a PM if anyone can assist...

    Mike
