    I hate how culture and regulation are making it harder and harder for cars like this to be worth the manufacturers' time.

    No. An Exige is a fastback with no rear window. The Elise has a rear window. The clams are different as well.

    The Exige and Elise only share the doors. All of the other panels are different.

    How much bigger is the new car than the predecessor?

    Is the gear linkage any better than an Elise of several years ago. I recall the across the box throw was long.

    This car is a little larger to accommodate the 3.5l V6... but that is achieved by using a different rear subframe. The chassis is the same as all previous S2 variants so the cabin dimensions are identical to my 2002 Elise. I found the shift mechanism excellent. As soon as I have the funds available I'm getting one - it is mind bendingly fast :)
