.....just deposited today after driving the coupe. One word - EXTRAORDINARY, only downside is it makes the 488 look screaming cheap. £70k less.

McLaren have overtaken Ferrari mid-engine in just 5 years, be good for Ferrari long term I am sure........thoughts ?

(Plan to keep my Speciale Aperta - different character as NA and always good for slow journeys 😏😏).

Congrats, great car. Jumped to Mclaren back in 2014 - 12C spider - after 4 Ferrari's, no regrets.

You mean when it got passed by a Porsche RSR race car on slicks?

Yeah, um, any race car is going to be faster than any road car ever.

the 675 cant be compared to the 488, the 675 is a light wieght version of the 650 so its an unfair comparrison. No I do not believe they have overtaken Ferrari. They have created a different unique brand, is it better than the mid engine v8s of Ferrari, def not. The speciale in my eyes is still the ultimate car even with the 675 extra power, I would choose the character of that vehicle. I still love the 675 and look forward to future cars coming out from Mclaren.

McLaren have a historic problem with depreciation but they are at a tipping point and 675 will be pretty solid. New 570 also phenomenal. I love and respect Ferrari but no doubt McLaren provenance etc fabulous and it's an ENGINEERING led product not marketing led like Ferrari.

I have an Aperta and maybe the 488 Speciale will be nearer but for now please trust me the gap is big.

The carbon mono cell is a big reason especially on the Spider. As I said in 5 years that's amazing as 12C was well off the pace.

On the weight point - when you add back air con , music etc it's only 50kg less than the 650 it's not the weight that makes the difference it's the steering, suspension and 50% changes in the engine. It's basically a race product that you can potter to the shops in. And the fit and finish is much superior. Like granite. Staggering.

As I said Ferrarinhas had the market to itself for years (Lambo a heavy posers product) and this will do it GOOD which we will all benefit from.

Main downside is the 675 is scary expensive and options a joke price especially MSO. 488 great value - did we ever think we would hear that !!!

675 LT is unabashedly crazy fast and likely can pull that RSR down a long straight as its carrying an extras 200 or so hp over the ultra aerodynamic RSR. That being said we all know the RSR would destroy the LT for lap times and is a spectacular dedicated track beast. FWIW I was driving locally last week in LI and a 570 came blowing by me as I was driving around 50 or so mph. It wasn't far from the LI Mac dealer so maybe somebody was taking a test drive ? I was in my DD a bone stock 13 997 TTS Cab. and I hammered the gas as soon as the 570 passed me. I caught up very quickly and the 570 was unable to pull me from until I let off at approx. 130 mph or so. I was clearly slowly pulling him until I let off. Anyway, 570 is very fast but not faster on the street than my old dated technology 997 TTS. To make matters worse my car is a cab. and I have no doubt that if we started from a dig the TTS would have ripped the 570 a new ... tailpipe.

Turned down two 675LT coupes at msrp. Was offered the spider version also MSRP. Just not enough emotion for me compared to Ferrari.

$10 says he probably wasn't giving it full throttle. 570 has more power, a bit less torque, weighs like 500 lbs less and is RWD. Maybe you'll get it from a dig for a bit, but from a roll you'll have no chance of keeping up, let alone pulling on it.

570S really isn't that much slower than a 12C up to like 200 kph, and the 12C annihilates a 997 Turbo S Cab.

Both came out at the same time more or less, so why not? 675LT is actually based on the 5 year old P11 (12C/650S) platform. If anything it should be compared to a Speciale, which I'm guessing it would destroy, relatively speaking.

Given Ferrari have been at this 70 years I reckon Mac did pretty good in 5, if you get a chance go the factory (MTC) and you will be very optimistic (and if English justifiably proud).

You could be correct about the 570 candidly I'll never know unless/until another 570 comes out to play. I think you are seriously underestimating the power of the 997 TTS. As far as the 12C, unless it was modded, it (and little else) can "annihilate" a 13 997 TTS cab., at least in a straight line up to about 120-130 or so (particularly from dig). Please PM if you are in the LI area and we can give it a go. Roll or dig I'm sure we'll have fun. Bone stock 997 TTS cabs. has been magazine tested at anywhere from 2.6-2.9 0-60 and 10.6-10.9 in the quarter mile at 124-126 mph. Not bad for a 3 year old dated tech. "pig". Plus it has AWD, a back seat and ain't bad to look at. All in all pound for pound probably the best DD ever made. No she is no track weapon let alone track star and handles like a pig compared to say my GTO or old 458 Italia (my last DD). But other than pushing her really hard in turns the 997 is a wonderful reliable experience.

Just saw that your in LA so probably no playtime. Oh well.

200hp less but more fun and tracks faster, that sounds like the right direction for car upgrades.
Mclaren has been suffering because of selling straight performance.
