Helping a friend sell another car from his collection (at one time he had a Ghibli SS, Espada, Ghia 1500GT and a really pretty Bridges Point 24) but, he's thinning the herd once again.

I am trying to help him figure out some fair pricing, or marketability even for his 1954 Rolls Royce James Young bodied Limo.

It is a very original car, with excellent patina, and the majority of her body holds original paint. Original engine, gearbox, interior and more (though he says she currently has hardened valve seats). Original crystal, woodwork, brightwork etc.

What do you think is best for marketing her? She's a driver currently, not a show queen, but I think someone would become quite fond of the mystique a vintage Rolls holds.

I'll include a few photos, and please feel free to chime in, I'm predominantly better with Italian/British sports cars, not larger Tourers like this.

    Thanks!

$25k for driver to $100k concourse. The trouble is finding a buyer - not in particular demand other than limo type rental companies.

Beautiful James Young lines, perhaps the best looking coachwork for Silver Wraith. I would market the car in UK.

A FYI, and my bad, I said 1954, when in fact George scolded me, it is a 1955!

    Chassis #ELW46

    Excellent, thank you.

Thank you, I'll advise and see what we can come up with.

A few dealers in the U.S. deal in classic Rolls Royce's. But they mostly sell Clouds and touring models. A few specialty places in the UK, they have more selection

    UK P&A Wood P & A Wood

Another the name escapes me now.

Sales - Vintage & Prestige - Vintage Rolls Royce For Sale

Rolls Royce & Bentley Specialist Dealer London, Rolls Royce & Bentley Servicing, Repairs & Restoration, Classic Rolls-Royce & Vintage Bentleys for Sale

    For the US

Sales & Restoration of Classic Automobiles

Charles Agapiou, Ltd. - Rolls-Royce and Bentley Service and Sales - Land Rover Service

From the above you can check their inventory and get an idea on the ball park. In general the collectors like the older models. American collectors tend to like the American built Springfield cars. The guys who tour tend to stick to the Clouds and even the Shadows. More left hand drives available in these models. The quirkier collectors tend to like the RHD's. The guy looking for this type will most likely looking in the UK, not a lot for sale here VS there. So the UK market will give a better price ball park.

I will look into them too.

When we come up with a price, I suspect it'll probably be surprisingly "low" (for the current market).

Ok, I have all of the photos and provenance in hand from George the owner, and will prepare a proper listing this weekend for the Silver Wraith. So she'll be "officially" up for sale! He really hopes to find a good home for her!

    Where is the car located?

I might be interested. Looking for a fun "go out to dinner car" that my son can chauffeur us around in.

Funny you say that, George would dress up in a tux and chauffeur cap and drive for weddings as a fun Saturday or Sunday "job" (he's long past retired you know?).

Anyway, the Rolls is in Selma, AL tucked in at his garage. He was not happy with the way the gearbox was shifting last week, so it will have its Borgward serviced before sale.

    An update gents.

In light of the paint job on the horizon for George's Rolls, the car is still available.

She now comes with a freshly rebuilt gearbox too, a two month process, and carefully done.

The engine and gearbox are both running strong. But the paint is weak, following the PPI, the conclusion that paint is needed was the large "damning" Mark. Besides that, most would call her an ol' nail of a driver. Patina and charm.

    Thanks!
