Maybe the guys that read the Design section will comment on the perforated fron sections but sounds like a car that will blow the F-type Lexus off the track and maybe some Bimmers. Anybody know the US price and any comments on the ingredients?

    he Jag SV Project 8

I haven’t seen it in person, but on paper, and judging from reports from Goodwood where it wowed the crowd, Jag’s new hot sedan , called the SV Project 8 (SV being Special Vehicles), Jag is in the game of hot sedans to win.

That means whatever automakers thought they had the field free have to worry now. I am particularly thinking of Lexus with their F models, BMW M series, Mercedes AMG and the lie.

In their press release Jaguar says “SVO creates the ultimate Jaguar vehicles: the fastest and most luxurious. Our specialist engineers, designers and craftsmen engineers enable our most discerning clients to indulge their passion for Jaguar. The result is always exclusive, rare and with the very latest state-of-the-art technology.

    THE ENGINE

With 600 PS from a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Project 8 is, they claim, "
the most powerful street-legal Jaguar vehicle in history." Total production will be strictly limited to 300 cars worldwide, each one hand-assembled at the SVO Technical Centre in Warwickshire, England. Customers can choose between the two-seat, track-oriented version and a road-biased four-seater.

They also brag that this new SV Project 8 “uses motor sport-derived suspension and a modified all-wheel-drive system for outstanding driver feel and agility. Damper mounts are ball-jointed to improve response and there are two ride heights – one for the road and a lower setting for the track.”

I don’t know how much of the car is aluminum but they say it has “lightweight aluminum architecture combined with the extensive use of carbon fiber” and among the items changing materials from the normal sedan are the hood, bumpers, fenders, side skirts, front splitter and rear spoiler.

    AERO GIMMICKS

I say “gimmicks’ but apparently they all work, I mean gizmos like the adjustable deep front splitter, rear diffuser and a large adjustable rear spoiler. The rear spoiler’s angle of attack can be fine-tuned either to reduce drag or maximize downforce – producing up to 268 lbs of downforce once you reach 186 mph.

Stopping power, says Jaguar is “the largest and most technologically advanced brakes ever fitted to a Jaguar vehicle – vast 400 mm carbon ceramic discs with 6 huge piston calipers up front. “

    ALL WHEEL DRIVE

WE are not talking off roadability but traction on street surfaces. Jaguar says “ The Intelligent Driveline Dynamics includes an electronic active rear differential, as part of the advanced computer-controlled drive setup. For ultimate performance, the Project 8 has a uniquely tuned version of Adaptive Dynamics that includes a new Track Mode.

    RACE CAR SEATING

Carbon fiber racing seats are available for those who want the two-seat track-oriented Project 8. They’re fitted with four-point competition harnesses. A multipoint harness retention loop replaces the rear seats. In other words if you want those harnesses, you are going to have to give up ordering a rear seat. But there’s still a road version featuring four seats trimmed in Ebony leather with Oyster contrast stitching. In that model, the front seats are special lightweight magnesium-framed Performance buckets.

    MAKE IT YOURS

Jag feels that making special colors available will make the car more special so the Project 8 is offered in 3 standard colors, as well as five optional SVO Premium Palette colors. But if you want to go off the rails and choose a color no one might have, there’s the what they call the “Bespoke by SVO edition” where you can choose from among 10,000 further body and accent colors plus add bespoke racing-inspired decals, painted brake calipers, commissioning plaque and much more.”

The wheels are lightweight forged alloys that they say are stronger and lighter than conventional cast alloy, delivering superior handling and ride quality. You wouldn’t think wheels count much in drag but they say “Unique carbon inserts reduce drag by 7 counts.” Tires are specially developed Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires.

Cool but 4 door, 2 seater is silly.

Not really a sedan anymore if it doesn't have functional back seats...

The perforated front body pieces are a breath of fresh air (no pun intended). Like it!
