Looks like MOTOR AUTHORITY put the new 720s on the dyno, It was producing a hair under 700 at the wheels!
That intern comes to about 780+ at the CRANK or Gross.
I knew this thing was soooooo fast.
I wonder if there really is any other car that comes close for this year?
I hear an uprated 488 might come close and the Porsche gt as well , we shall see.
Its been a long time waiting for something to be excited about in the new car market.
    Cant wait.

    There's a reason it's trapping mid 140's. It's basically P1 quick.

My friend who has a 918/P1 and basically anything else worth mentioning ordered one. I spoke with him a few days ago. He said it feels nearly as quick as a P1 from roll but less hairy. He said from dig he doesn't think it could keep up with his 918 (he's vbox'd 0-100 mph in 4.7 seconds in the Porsche) but from a roll again there's not much between them according to him.

Probably closer to 840 at the crank as drivetrain loss with a dual clutch / RWD configuration should be around 17%. DynoJet certainly may give an elevated reading, but with the 720S trapping 143-146mph in the quarter mile, it has to be well beyond the rated spec considering its curb weight.

This is a newly delivered customer car. Great launch on the 720S, the Lambo not so much - surprising considering which is RWD versus AWD. I guess the Lambo's extra 800-900 lbs are holding it back. And the 710 vs 750 HP is probably misleading, with the McLaren likely putting down at least as much if not more power through the wheels.

That's saying a lot. I haven't driven any of the hypercars but to even be close in one generation of development is nuts.

That was my reaction as well.

So the 918 takes 5.2 seconds from 60-130 and the 720S just was recorded at 5.4 seconds so that validates my friends feelings.

No, I don't think that's true. Some want it just because of the machine that it is, which I think is true of people on this thread.

    Impressive!

It's very impressive imagine the LT in two years time.

    Interesting comparison:

    [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzLPXoXqh_c[/ame]

Demon does 808 hp at the crank (on pump gas 91) vs about 780hp for the McLaren. Demon has about 4% more power.

Demon weighs about 4300 vs McLaren at about 2800. Demon weighs about 50% more!

    Which sounds more fun?

Well don't imagine too hard unless you're planning to get a regular series 720S coupe (or spider) beforehand. Demand will be so high I doubt McLaren will sell an LT to many people who don't own the regular series car when the time comes in 4 years or so.

No, actually they're not. Next year they're bringing the P15 to market. It will be a non-hybrid Ultimate Series car track focused (like LT was), but street legal, car. Rumors are around 800hp and significantly lighter, with more aero, than the 675LT. They've just started offering reservations for the very first wave of customers of which I'm proud to say I am one! There will be 500 made.

Confirmed customers of the BP23 (3 seater hybrid Ultimate Series car, 106 of which will be made) may get a look at the car at some point in 2018 but I wouldn't expect to see any cars delivered until at least 2019.
