My friend has a first year California.

I was hoping to help him change the oil and wanted to check with others here to see if there are any surprises?

Again, this is a FIRST year California.

Any body trays in the way?

Any procedure for a service light?

    Special considerations?

    Thanks

Tim, I suspect most if not all the California owners here simply take their cars in for annual service and that's it. They probably don't change their oil more often than that. As these cars are still relatively new, I suspect they also haven't reached the home mechanics yet.

When was your friend's car last serviced?

Me too! And I wash and vacuum the car myself.

And I just got back from a 300 mile trip to the dealer for the included annual service. I read the service ticket. There is a lot that has to be removed to change the oil. That is almost like turning a wrench. :D

    Ok...you guys are alive!

My understanding was the first year California did not come with the service.

I guess he should just sell it and get a Cali-T!
