Hi guys, I'm helping a friend of mine with his California purchase. We narrowed it down to 2 different cars and I would like your thoughts on which one you think would be a better buy and keep its value a bit more. He may be selling it in a year or 2? Option 1: 2013 Red/Black ~1500 miles, carbon throughout including the steering wheel, Daytona seats , contrast stitching, Handling package . Msrp -$255k asking $218k 2014 Red/Tan 150 miles, carbon throughout including the steering wheel, Daytona's, very similar to above without the Handling package . Msrp $233k asking $218k Biggest difference is the handling package. He hasn't driven the 2013 but did get a chance to drive the 2014. He can get a discount in the 2014 due to someone backing out on their build. Which would you buy ? Thanks,
Given both available for exactly the same price I'd take the '14, it is a "year" newer! Options are all cool but as long as there is magneride that is all it would matter to me. Unless he plans to take it to the track with some regularity then I would opt for the handling package. Rick
me thinks the 2014 seems a better deal, perhaps you can get them to come down on the price because of the non handling package ? How important is the handling package to you? this board seems to feel its a must have, so i ordered it on my new car. is the car with magnaride ?
14 all the way. when its time to sell, considering both as used cars, ppl will pay morefor a "newer year" than for a handling pckg.
It would take him almost 1year + to get the "T. That is why I wanted to know how important the handling package is to buyers. He would only take it to the track 1-2 times a year.
although I like the sports package I like the red tan more than the red black .. so I would would get the 14...
Just a different opinion here...I would get the handling package as it is similar setup to the California T with magnaride. I think the resell of a Cali with the handling package would outweigh one that did not. Having said that, I would negotiate hard on 2013. You can probably get them down a few bucks. Ultimately, your friend has probably driven them both, what does he feel about the differences?
It all depends on what he wants: Better deal: get the 14 Better driver: get the 13 We're talking degrees here. I'd go with the driver and take a little more financial hit. Because I get modern cars to drive.
Disagree, I've driven a 458 about 20 miles after 40,000+ California miles and yes the 458 was more powerful but not mind blowing more powerful at all. In fact the 458 foot well is pushed in to accommodate the wheel wells and there was no place to put my left foot making the 458 significantly more uncomfortable. Again, the power just wasn't THAT much better. Rick
Magnaride not so important in most parts of FL due to flat, straight roads. So I'd def go with the '14. We had a '13 w/ no Mride and it didn't hurt re-sale at all. And the car was bought by a NY buyer.
Well he went with the 2014 . Just bought it this evening. Thanks to all for their input. It helped him narrow it down.
Please pass our congrats on to him! And also let him know that we demand pictures and a detailed report on his first experiences with the car.
