    Please realize that tire technology has vastly improved since any of those cars were made. I'd wager they'd all be 2-3 seconds faster on modern tires (more for the f40). The track was also changed slightly in '95 that made it a little faster (also affecting the f40 time). Not as amazing when put in context, but still quite good.

    Whenever comparing to cars like the F40, remember that in May 1996 Ferrari altered the configuration of Fiorano (removing a chicane from the north east side section of straight), making it 1 - 1.5 seconds faster.

    And as mentioned, tires tires tires. The SC2's on the Speciale alone count for 1 second of the 1.5 second improvement in lap time over the Italia.

    I think we all get that there are variables. Still it is impressive that the car so despised by real Ferrari folks is a really good performer. Discrediting is to be expected. :D

    its all about the driver, he may of had a great lap.he could get a little tired, he could not have found the same lane around.
