Finally...the real journey begins! Not sure why mine is shown with the top down (it has the nero roof - see frame of windshield.) Hopefully I won't tire of that retina burning interior! Can't wait for the live viewing.

The "sitting in a mouth" analogy is a new one for me...must be that wacky German humor!

I never really thought about that classic look of an old SL...but now that you mention it, I'm kinda feelin' it.

I'm thinking it might not be quite as long as it appears because I just noticed that the final assembly pic (above) that was posted on MyFerrari yesterday says "last updated" on Nov 13...seems kind of odd that it took until Dec 4 for the pic to appear on the site. My earlier production pics were posted as "last updated" on Nov 11, but they showed up on Nov 12. Kind of interesting.

Wondering if any of you have a good handle on how long the actual production process takes between paint and final assembly? Does it take a few days or a few weeks?

You called it...dealer says it's on the water and expects they'll want to get it delivered before year end to record the sale.

 

Indeed it is...I was told to expect it between 26-30...problem is I'll be leaving a couple days before that and staying on the road for business till mid Jan. Oh well, I guess a guy waiting for an Fcar doesn't have a lot to complain about.

 

Haven't heard from them, but nor have I checked...mostly because on the road for a few weeks. My guess is I'm going to get the "can you wire the money" email hours before the year ends! Ideally it will get in soon so the dealer can get the work started before I get back...the film on the rockers, the radar detec installed...and I want them to send it out to one of their friends to drop it very slightly (I'm thinking 10-12mm's in back and 12-15mm in front) in order to get the look you see on the launch/car show pics. Will also put my usual small spacers on...15mm in back and 11mm in front.

You know, since you ask, I'm calling dealer today to get status.

 

Looks like Jan for me...dealer said they have a list of year-end deliveries for next week and I'm not one of them. I guess the last couple of weeks are dragging out...I'll just have to suffer through them like everyone else. Still just hoping that it actually has a roof, or one that works! (that pic with topdown is still the only one I've seen...maybe there are others).
