Who thinks that if they made a coupe version it would be an excellent entry-level car at a great price and appeal to some more buyers who may be anti-convertible???

+1. If you want a coupe, just don't fold the top down.

No, not me. The Cali is the only full convertible in the current Fcar lineup - they need this car to complete their lineup. Ferrari is not out to offer cars "at a great price".

The Cali was designed to satisfy people who wouldn't normally consider Fcars (like BMW, MB, Porsche buyers) because they feel Fcars are too hardcore for everyday use. Full convertibles are about enjoying the weather, the company and the outdoors.

IMO, all sports car should be convertibles... coupes are for people who want to save a few bucks or for those who care more about performance numbers for tracking or drag racing. I find coupes too boring to own (I'd rather have a truck). The Cali was the only Fcar that did it for me. IMO, it's plenty fast enough.

I agree 100% this would have happened IF Maser & Alpha did not make a return to the US. At this point, Ferrari would be cutting into Granturismo sales. With a base price of $150k, where would they price a Coupe California? $175?

Think about it - the entry level Mondial came in Coupe & Cabriolet versions...so it's completely plausible that they would have released a coupe California.

Also, unless I am mistaken, wasn't the California originally intended as a Maserati or is that just a rumor?

Agreed. The words "Entry-level at a great price" and "Ferrari" don't mix very well.

It's like "Patek Philippe on a budget". No thanks

People say the same thing about the corvettes but they are all targa's or convertibles.
