Today I finally took delivery of my new (to me) California! I've been dying for one of these ever since they came out, but I just couldn't get myself over the lack of a proper transmission. Also, I really only wanted one in yellow, which wasn't typically easy to find.

After years of back and forth (love it / hate it) I decided to forgo the California and buy an SLS. I was on the hunt and nearly pulled the trigger but at 3AM I decided to do a quick Yellow California search and low and behold I found my baby. Spoke with the owner and within 24 hours bought the car.

After what seems like an eternity, the car finally arrived from the West Coast to it's new home on the East Coast.

    I've already ordered:

    Carbon Fiber Trunk Molding
    Carbon Fiber Trunk Lip Spoiler
    Carbon Fiber Exterior Door Handles
    Carbon Fiber Intake Grills

Additionally, I want to paint the roof (not the A pillars) black. I think between the CF and roof, it will break the 'overly' yellow up.

Her name is Lola and she will be joining her older sisters my 348ts & 456gt.

I knew going into the car that the tires were shot - I bought a set of 2010 Cali rims/tires to swap as soon as she arrived. I was able to drive her about 3 miles to the tire shop to swap the rims. I will powder-coat these and put new rubber on. For those few miles I had a blast, even if I had to keep her conservative. I can't wait to really open her up!

    Thanks,
    Erik

Nice! What color do you plan on powder coating the wheels - black?

Yes - black rims, black roof - CF everything else. Not too crazy.

    Thanks,

Maybe try doing mirrors black too to match roof?

Just curious, why do you want to keep the A pillars yellow? When ordering a black roof from Ferrari, the A pillars are painted black as well at no extra cost. Also there is the option of just painting A pillars black, and keeping roof body color. For comparison the new Miata comes with black A pillars, regardless of body color.

With the top down, I don't like the look of a single black A pillar. It's just my personal taste. I had my silver 911 wrapped in yellow and black and I love how it came out (they did the mirrors as nsx2F355 suggests).

I sold this 911 as soon as I paid for the Cali - no need for 2 yellow drop-tops...

Lovely. To me the Cali beats the Porker for looks hands down. You could always wrap the roof rather than paint. Could even use a CF style wrap to match the trim your getting.

I'll respectfully disagree about the looks on the Porsche versus Ferrari, especially in yellow. I think they're both gorgeous cars in their own right. Is the other car a Ferrari 355?

Put Pirelli SottoZero's on the second set of wheels and drive her all year like I do :). Another beautiful California! Although I must say that here we find another forum with photos of Porsches :D ... yuk

I suppose it comes down to personal taste. I don't disagree that the Porsche is a lovely car, it's just that IMHO I think the Cali looks better. I see lots of Porsche day to day but almost no Fcars so perhaps its rarity makes it even more striking. You would be happy with either in your garage.

Haha - I NEVER thought I would like a Pcar - got my wife the Cayenne Turbo S and fell in love. Bought 4 more Porsche's last year. My 911 is a bat out of hell (850hp), but it doesn't have the same soul that a Ferrari does - hard to describe but you feel it instantly.

To be brutally honest, I love the Cali, but it's not the same either - can't shake the Stick. This car, for what it is, hard drop top and cruiser, it's fine. I don't get the 458/488 flappy paddles. Give me an F40 and call it a day ;)

That was the first time I saw a Yellow Cali - didn't even know it came in Yellow prior to.

It's from the movie the Counselor. Very graphic scene, lol.

No argument on the rarity factor. What I love about the 911 is it's unbroken chain of fifty years of history. You can go to a car event and just enjoy the evolution of the car, from the 60s until today. Definitely great to have both in your garage - I have a Porsche in the garage, want a Ferrari!...T
