After owning four Ferraris, I decided to try something different until I get a 488 allocation. I bought a Porsche Turbo S. I've had it for a few days, and what I like is the stealth super car performance and nobody pays any attention to it. It'll depreciate like a rock but I'm really liking it as a daily driver. I'll post comparisons to the Cali T in a week or so once I get to know it better.

Good choice! I have a '15 Turbo in Sapphire Blue. Get a SharkWerks exhaust. It will sound much better and still be great to drive all the time.

I sold a 911 Turbo after I heard a 12 Cylinder Ferrari up close. I got sick of the cheaply made everything of Porsche's. I guess you may not keep it around long enough to get your sticky buttons or a catastrophic engine failure due to it having no cylinder liners. At least the 997 Gen 1. Turbo I sold had the Mezger engine. All the new Turbos are based on the cheaply made next gen engines with no cylinder liners.

Well, nothing is a good match for an F12! But I don't agree that the 991 911 is cheaply made. Ferraris are also notorious for sticky buttons. Don't know about engine issues because typical Ferraris aren't driven as many miles as 911s.

After owning a couple of Porsches I developed this opinion. Hopefully your experience will be much better. The engines do however have no cylinder liners because they wanted to save money. You can check that yourself from many sources.

I have no doubt you are correct about the engines being sleeveless. Since my 991 Turbo is a DD and leased, however, I'm not too worried.

    Says who?

Did 180,000 Kms in my 512 TR.

    My 599 GTO has over 20,000, F40 36,000, CS 30,000 etc etc

Never had an engine failure in over 500,000 Kms over the past 27 years

Yes the buttons were a disaster on the 348. But then the whole car was disastrously bad. One bad one compared to how many Porsche goofs??

Wow. That's serious mileage. I don't doubt Porsche's mistakes. They've already recalled 991 GT3s for engine swaps, some twice.

Ended up dumping the Turbo S this week. Car developed a foul A/C smell that was impossible to get rid of. Tried everything including replacing the evaporator coil box too. Drove great but good riddance.

Was it a 991 or 997? I had a Boxster, C4S and Turbo Cab and had no issues. I have been thinking of trading my '11 Cali for a '12 Turbo S cab bec I was getting afraid of maintenance issues so I am curious.
