Hello Folks, So we were sent some California parts to refinish. Here are the R, Auto, And PS buttons. The first is the before photo - the R (most used) is the worst but the others are starting to get bad also.... The second is the buttons after paint awaiting laser etching I'll let Randy post the after photos as I'm pretty poor at taking pics Note: We fully disassemble these to refinish, and they are fully refinished (taken down to bare plastic). Happy Friday to all Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Happy Friday Guys, I just finished this California Parking Brake Switch and wanted to share the video. The Laser marking came out great, and as always, Daves paint work is phenomenal. Check out the video below: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8ABAZm4cj8[/ame] Have a great day, and please feel free to contact us with all your sticky part refinishing needs. Best Regards, Randy
Super cool! thinking that might have been mine that I just got back late last week. Great job guys, very pleased with the work.
Hello Folks, Here is an HVAC Panel refinished. This one we did different than our normal process as the customer wanted to minimize cost. - We cleaned off the clear soft touch coating (roughly) - Then, we fully disassembled the panel - man this thing has a gazillion parts - More detailed cleaning with all parts disassembled - We then applied a low gloss clear (from the same manufacture as our normal coating so it has the same chemical and mar resistance) We feel the results are very nice, not as nice as a full refinish but likely 1/2 the cost. Understand that if any of the base coating or graphics had been damaged, this option would not have been possible and a full refinish with laser graphics would have been the only method we could have used. Thanks for looking happy Friday Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Folks Just finishing up another set of California parts - these have beige trim. Here is the completed Mode / Display assembly and window switch / top controls Thanks for looking Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Cali. Owners, I've put together some footage from Laser Marking the Mode Display buttons. After resilient cleaning and stripping, Dave laid down a flawless finish, and I finished it up with Laser Etching of the illuminated buttons. We could not be happier with the results. If your California soft touch interior is failing, give us a call for a permanent solution. Thanks for looking. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZPoGYnUTLY[/ame] Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does it bother anyone else but a 5 to 7 your car would have such failure? I don't recall having this problem in my Porsches.
Have a 2007 430 we bought in 2012. Buttons are starting to get sticky. Are these available in carbon fiber? Maybe time to replace....
Apparently also a problem in Porsches and Audis... attached are consoles from a 997 987 Carrera Boxster and '03 Audi Allroad 2.7T. Seems to be a questionable use of this soft touch coating in the whole auto industry. I think the material is a type of rubber coating and is thus simply susceptible to warm weather, sweaty fingers, cologne, perfume or any aromatic or organic solvent residue on fingers. I suspect even common oils (skin, cooking, lubrication) will dissolve this coating. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Folks, So we received some California parts in for refinishing and the have some Beige 4208 trim to match the leather. So we had a custom color made up by our manufacturer. We recently did Crema parts for a 612. This is our 3 custom color now not including the transparent colors for graphics. Stay tuned for the completed part photos BTW, the other parts above are actually Sabbia, not beige. I had misspoke. Image Unavailable, Please Login
As promised, here are some after photos of California parts with Beige 4208 trim to match the leather. We had this color special matched and it looks pretty cool And, as luck would have it, today we received another set of California parts with Cuoio trim so we will have that matched as well and photos to come Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Our new paint booth clean room has been operation for 5-6 weeks now and we are very pleased with the performance. We have a new team member on board now as well who just completed his 3rd week and he is doing a great job. Still planning to hire 1-2 more guys in the next few months. Hey Guys - so quick little cell phone video that we posted on Instagram @Sticky_Rx showing our laser test panels.
This is great stuff. Aggravating that this should be an issue on a quarter-million dollar (when new) car, but just another reason to drive the crap out of them, and fix them as needed. Dave - as the Cali ages, are you starting to see a growing # that need this treatment? T
Tom, I suspect the problem is related to climate and perspiration as it seems to be localized to the actual surfaces frequently exposed to drivers' fingers. If so it will probably happen to people who regularly use their cars in hot, humid conditions. The Porsche photos I posted earlier show this quite clearly.
Thank you. No, they don't just pop off. Yes, Tom we are doing more and more California's along with 599's, 458's. The coating failure is largely related to time verse other variables however heat / humidity play an important role. I can assure you many surfaces never touched (life defroster vents) fail equally.
That's disheartening. I think I better put a few of pennies aside every month fit for future sticky touch up. T
Please send me an email - you don't remove them, you send the entire sub-assembly. Please give me a call 716-553-6130 or email: dave.lelonek@**********.com Thank you.
