I use my 2011 Cali as a daily driver in so cal and recently noticed that the leather on the dash above the instrument panel has separated and begun folding away near the windshield glass. I suspect it's from the heat outside. Has anyone experienced this and have any suggestions how to repair and or prevent in the future? Thanks!!

Don't park it outdoors for long periods especially if you live in a hot sunny climate or it will simply look like every other jalopy in the parking lot.

I'm in the "Cold North" but even I use a custom sunshade. I got mine HERE. Even my pickup truck has a custom sunshade. As for repairs, I'd ask the dealer which custom upholsterer they use.

Can only provide info on prevention. Get your front windshield tinted with Winco 70. Blocks >90% of infrared heat coming through the windshield onto your dashboard and blocks all UVA/B. When installed it is practically invisible though I've found that it reduces glare from headlights of oncoming traffic at night. Good luck....

Use a sun protector for the front window when you park.
I use them all the time and park outside 8 hours a day
M-F and a few hours on weekends.

Never had a leather separation or dash issue over 3 Ferraris and 13 years.

On my current 458 spider, I requested the optional heat resistant windshield from the factory.

But fixing your problem is pretty straightforward. Ask your service center for help. They will refer you to their leather specialist.

Thanks, that's great to know... especially the UVA/B blocking. I should look into that for my truck. ;)

Look into the heat resistant windshield option from the factory when you order your next F-car.
    Very good investment. ;)

(Another often overlooked detail is selecting the tire of your choice.)

Yes, the salesman and I had debated over it. The windshield option is quite useful if you park outdoors a lot. I didn't pick it as I drive about 90% with the roof down anyway and use her as a "point A to A car" with the odd quick stop for groceries or lunch/dinner date only.

There were only 2 tire options when I spec'd mine and Pirellis were definitely better than the Bridgestones. In Retrospect Michelin PSSs would have been even better performers but it wasn't that obvious to me back in 2012 and I wanted to try PZeros, having always driven BMWs. Still, I did inquire about them and I recall they would have to have been swapped in by the dealer.
