Rob and I got the 328 in 2000, but this is technically first Ferrari on my own. It's a perfect 3-day weekend car as I work in Dallas Monday-Thursday and will get new daily driver for that. Thanks to Ken Murphy at Boardwalk Ferrari. We will be trading this in shortly for December build of a T w/handling.

I think plan is to sell Abarth once she gets another daily driver. Were thinking GranTurismo, but we like the GranSport so much will just remove the stiff sport springs to make more commutable again. Instead of Abarth might give used Carrera a try.

Not a big fan of California but this looks very beautiful. Is it a two-tone paint? The roof section with the front pillars looks like 'light' silver. The yellow calipers is a nice touch too.

no, just Grigio Silverstone. I wasn't a big fan of the California rear when it came out, but maybe after the FF came out I decided it really wasn't so bad. ;) Driving around her yesterday I really think it looks good from all angles. I only did a short drive, but got a good run from stop to onramp "short shifting" at 6,500 and the car has so much sneaky power. I think the GranSport has solid power, but the California kicks its butt. It doesn't understeer like the GranSport did stock, so I appreciate that. I do wish it would have that double clutch engine braking downshift noise like the GranSport does popping and snorting. The roof mechanism is quick and perfect, looks like a coupe with top up and a true cabriolet when down. Even with roof down plenty of room in trunk.

I guess you haven't read some of the posted messages. The Cali DOES pop and snort on a braking downshift... very much so. I can do it on command.

Just make sure you are driving in SPORT mode, NOT COMFORT; much easier to achieve after applying a bit of throttle before braking. ESC-OFF also does it now after my last annual service/software update(?) but SPORT mode is the loudest. OTOH, COMFORT mode makes the loudest CRACK on a spirited upshift.

When you are driving the car hard, the braking downshifts are VERY LOUD, almost as loud as the GTO's.

I'm glad you like the Cali. It does not have the most potent, the loudest or a Ferrari V12 engine but IMO it is exotic enough for most occasions and is the most enjoyable Fcar to live with in the current Ferrari line-up.

We have only had it in Sport, but just driving around town haven't driven it more than 50% yet. The GranSport pops at 50%.

The Cali is more nuanced than many other "noisy" cars like Masers and Lambos, which tend to always produce a soundtrack. The Cali makes noise only when you want it to. It has multiple personalities. When driven gently, it just hints at having a noisy personality. When you keep the engine revs on the boil the car becomes nervous and raucous, at least that's how it is with my HELE Cali30.

For anyone who likes his car to exhibit different personalities, it's perfect. I was going to buy a loaded Huracan a couple of months ago but the constant rattling and popping from the exhaust from the demo car got boring very quickly and I just couldn't imagine living with that. The newer Fcars have very sophisticated soundtracks and they are fairly quiet when you want them to be. I find that multidimensional behaviour much more interesting and endearing. It's like a woman who is different every time you spend time with her.
