We (my wife, my 8 year old, and I) drove our 2012 California from NJ to Daytona, FL for the Finali Mondiali. First of all, the drive was amazing, zero issues with the Cali.

A big shout out to Brian & the team at Ferrari of Central NJ for getting the car ready for it's trip and Dan at Bradan for getting the special touches making my cali unique!

The miles just flew by. The Cali (daytona seats) is beyond comfortable for long trips!

    Numbers rundown:

    NJ -> FL

    972 Miles
    52.131 Gallons
    AVG $2.792/Gallon
    Total $145.55
    18.64 MPG
    66 MPH AVG Speed
    133 Top Speed

    FL - > NJ

    933 Miles
    67.898 Gallons
    AVG $2.709/Gallon
    Total $183.91
    13.74 MPG
    74 MPH AVG Speed
    121 Top Speed

The difference in miles between the two legs - we had a day trip in Florida the last day, so it was a few miles shorter when I started to log. Also, we sat in about an hour worth of traffic on the way back. The first leg on the way to FL was in total pouring rain. The First leg on the way back to NJ was also pouring rain.

That's a great real test for the Cali reliability and comfort and it seems that she passed with great distinction. To reach the 2,247 miles you've clocked in 4 days on this trip and considering my 2016 average, will take me with my Cali more or less 730 days.

The noise on the Daytona Speedway must have been incredible. Well done Erik! It took some balls for you to drive your family and baby from NJ to FL in December. Nice to see a good-looking Cali enjoying the occasion amongst the brand's "royalty". Maybe you can explore the same route using suitable back roads in warmer weather another day.

It's also nice that you kept some interesting stats on your amazing trip. Sadly, my baby was "sucking its thumb" ...in the garage over the weekend. She can dream about next Spring though. :D

I'm most impressed that you tracked mpg. I'm too scared to do that with my Cali.

I really love those black accents you added. Really sets off the yellow, and sets your Cali apart from the crowd (by Ferrari standards!)

It's great to know you didn't have any problems while driving so many miles. That's what these types of cars are for. Your car looks great in yellow.

tomc - Thank you, I do believe it is one of the more striking colors.

MDEL - Obvious this wasn't typical, but I do try to put as many miles as possible.

4th_gear - Thanks! The whole track experience was surreal, driving next to and around some unreal cars. Funny you mention that, Rusty Wallace, the NASCAR driver gave a speech at the Finali dinner where he mentioned that he owns a Ferrari - a California!

tomc - Thanks! Yes, I thought it was too yellow from the factory. I was really interested in MPG because of course the car doesn't tell you and everyone asks.

    JPA - Thank you

    Kylec - Thanks, but it's a he, not a she ;)

Dohangs - Very reliable, I think the more you drive the better they are.

Ferrari 360 CS - Thank you.
