sat down with local dealer trying to close the gap on a 2014 california that they would like to be rid of and I would like to own.
We are close to a deal that involves a trade for my 2012 Audi R8 V10.
    About $10k total apart.
If it wast such a big purchase for me I would just say screw it and pay the difference. But it is. So I can't.
If not this one, there are plenty more out there!

Fingers crossed! I usually say - do you want to brag that you got a great deal, or do you want to brag that you drive a Ferrari?
But, that's a fair bit of change. Good luck.

Personally-speaking as a picky person, used or not, what's important when you're spending so much money on a car is that you are buying exactly the car you want. So make sure you like the colour, options and are happy with the condition of the car.

Maybe in lieu of a $10k price reduction you can go for a $5k reduction plus 2 years extended manufacturer's warranty instead. Ask for something you would like that inherently doesn't really cost the dealer as much as cash. New tires?

good advice all the way around. I like adding warranty in leu of discount. Might just ask for that.
I'm going to give it a few days. I really like the car. But it has been sitting at the dealer since april of 2016. Not sure why. But I'm confident that I can be patient. And in the mean time I've got the R8 which, while it isn't a ferarri, isn't walking either. I'll give it a little time and then offer some combo of price movement and warranty (which I would just be buying anyway) and see what happens.
    thx!

Sell the R8 on your own. That will make up the difference of the 10K.

Out of interest, what is it that's making you go from the R8 to the Cali? When I got my Cali the other car I was seriously considering was the R8.

Oac- no reason. Just wanted to spend some time with a GT car.
And the dealer just came to me at my price. After telling me "no way".
I have moved on to another car. Newer and still under warranty.
Local dealer on the out of warranty car is offering to add certified warranty for their cost of $5400. Is that reasonable? I might ask them to throw it in for free and I will stop working on the other car and close the deal.

^ I think a year of warranty from Ferrari dealer costs about that much, so price seems in right ballpark.

As soon as I get it!
Interesting to note- the sales guy suggested that I wait on the warranty because he expected big changes to the pricing coming out of the dealer owners meeting currently under way.

He told me that he was "98% sure that pricing for warranty would drop from 5k for 1 year to 5k for 3 years".
I will keep up with him about it and let you know when I get more details

The colors should be some you really like. You can always refresh a car with new paint and re-coloring the interior, but to change the colors to other than what was on originally is a NO-NO. Best of luck!!!.

Good advice. Can negotiate a refund if and when the rumored price break happens?

No apologies. Getting more, or even the same, from Ferrari for less $$ is potentially big news! Anyway, sleep well tonight, if you can, because tomorrow is a big day! Be prepared to have a nice from plastered to your face. Again, congratulations.

Yea. There are things that I will miss about the r8. But it was just so impractical that I never drove it. It was like a 430 without the charisma.
This car I can see putting some miles on. 24hrs to go.
