Hi guys: this morning the push button starter for my 2012 cali failed. The key turns and dash lights come on as normal however, when pushing the start button nothing happens. Any ideas how to get it started so I can take it to the dealer? Will this be a big deal to fix?? Thanks!!

Odds are high it's not the starter button....

    1) are you pushing the brake pedal hard? (harder than you might think)
    2) is the car plugged into the tender? (or, thinks it is?)
    3) is the gearbox in P (or N, I guess)

There are quite a few "lockout" reasons that, when present (including the 3 above) prevent the starter button from engaging. I'm sure it could be the button, but never actually heard of a bad button; more often something (usually simple) is amiss.

If, when you push the button, you are hearing clicks and ticks, it's likely a low battery, but that would typically be accompanied by a number of alarm codes and flashing warning lights.

Try exiting and locking the car, unlocking, booting up (turn key on), wait for it to boot, check that the tender is unplugged, all doors/bonnet closed, gearbox is in P and press hard on the brake, then try again

Sound like low battery or not stomping on the brake while hitting the starter button.

Was it on tender? If so, was tender light green?

You guys are the best....thank you!! In addition to what you recommended, I also tightened the gas cap (3 clicks) and stomped on the break....it worked! Thanks again, you saved me several hours of brain damage today!!

    Awesome.

F-chat is a great resource. We've all profited greatly from the knowledge base here. We're just passing it forward.

Now, get off the internet, and drive that Cali!

As others have said, brake pedal switch failure would be more common than starter button switch itself. Though, I have seen starter button failures on 2 other Ferrari over the past 5 years.

Now that you are on your way, try and get a technician to take a look at it, hopefully, they will be able to catch it in a failed state... nothing worse that trying to diagnose something that is working.

    Good Luck!
