My 2011 cali engine temp seems to be going haywire......swinging from 175/200 degrees to almost redline in just a few minn. then seem to cool down and do it again. Yesterday the temp warning light came on for a few seconds before cooling. What the heck could be causing this? Aany ideas??

Have you already checked your coolant levels?

One immediate suggestions (after checking the cooling level) is checking to see if the fans are coming on when the temp rises.

Could be thermostat or electric temp sensors for the fans.

Most likely the temperature sensor has gone bad.

Impossible for your coolant temp to gyrate up and down so rapidly.
