Yesterday I got caught in a heavy rain while joyriding with my son and upon opening the window I heard a streaking sound between the glass and the rubber strip.

Then the window got stuck in the up position and when I tried to roll it down I could hear the motor was winding but the glass wouldn't roll.

So I supect something or maybe a gear had stripped and didn't hook up the mechanism.

Has anyone experienced this before and got any solution? I am free on sunday and planning to take a peek myself behind the door card. Any advice on how to remove the door card? Any airbag warnings I should pay attention to?

Door card is off and it turned out to be a stripped power window motor gear. Window regulator looks brand new still. I bet the gear is made of plastic. A new motor is coming first thing monday morning.

Correct. Needs a steady and firm pull. Invest on an orange plastic prying set used by car audio shop. Screws are all visible and they are all lightweight alum screws. However, 1 screw is hiding just right behind the door handle gotta to tilt the door card from below to see it. Then lift the whole door card upward.

Got me some help to dismantle the window regulator.

    Doorcard is off :

Next is taking off the glass by removing the torq screws on these 2 holders :

Glass is off next is to take out the regulator. It is imperative to remove the whole assembly in order to fit the new motor due to the alignment of the teeth :

Motor is off and the gear turned out split from the base :

All done and reassembly is just the reverse.

Thanks very much for showing photos of the repair process.

The split gear looks gruesome - looks like something cut right into the gear and "decapitated" it. Were you able to find out how this happened in case it might also affect the replacement part?

    My pleasure...

According to the dealership it is a very common problem on the Calis and 458s in the tropics. Here and Hongkong where it occurs most. Maybe they should switch vendor to Denso. My 10 yr old Suzuki's electrical is still performing flawlessly.
