    I have just purchased a 2009 California.

All was fine, however tft keeps displaying boot open. The boot is closed, the soft close works.

Therefore the roof cannot be used.

HR Owen Park Royal in London checked the car today and are saying the locks are fine.

    Please advise urgently.

This issue arose after the roof was operated.

Just a wild guess as I've not come across your situation before. Your car either has a sensor problem or had an electrical issue which created a spurious sensor condition indicating the open boot.

If restarting the car and other "normal" operations fail to clear the condition you should ask your dealer to help with a "reboot" - that is, disconnecting the battery, waiting for an appropriate amount of time, and then reconnect the battery.

Please be aware that you need to lower the driver side window before doing this (and closing the door) because the window will obviously no longer lower without battery power and you risk ripping the door seals if you try to wrench the door open with the glass in the fully closed positions.

There are other precautions to heed before and after a battery disconnect so you should really have your dealer do this.

It has been like this for 24 hours, everything else is fine.

The dealer had the car for two hours today, I believe they were changing the locks. However it is still the same.

Are the sensors in the lock unit?

Car is under warranty and they say for further investigation I have to book it in. Bookings are 1-2 months away!

How long have you had it? If you "just" bought the car, there should normally be some sort of cooling off period if you need to return the car. It looks like the dealer did not prep the car properly. All the more reason to have the dealer do the reboot if you feel you may have to return it.

Did you do a PPI before buying the car?

Not sure where the sensor(s) are located but IMO, they should not be in the locks, for safety reasons.

If you just took delivery your dealer should fix it immediately and not ask you to book the service. I would have the dealer reboot the car before doing anything else as waiting for other service may be a complete waste of time.

I have had the car since yesterday!

I will be pursuing the dealer tomorrow. The dealer I bought the car from is two hours away, I visited their local service centre today which is 15 minutes away.

I took a private specialist to see the car last week. All was perfect, roof was working fine and no boot open message.

The car drives well and very good condition. The only issue it the boot message.

OK, so it's essentially a DOA issue... dead on arrival, as this is a convertible and it's open top season.

    "Roof no workee".

Agreed. I would hope that any reputable dealer would bend over backwards to remedy such a situation as quickly as possible, so soon after delivery.

They will be taking the car in next week to rectify the issue.

I will also be receiving an Audi as a loan car.

I went to my local specialist who has been servicing my Gran Turismo for 4 years, he quickly found that the micro chip in the lower lock was not working!

He had adjusted and it now works as normal, it is part of the lower locking mechanism.

It also looked like the main dealer had not looked at/changed any of the locks as they stated!

I sat at Ferrari main dealers yesterday for two hours while they told me they had changed the locks!

Glad it's working. I'd definitely have a chin wag, I think I used that correctly, with someone high up at the dealership and your national Ferrari organization about the "we said we replaced it, but didn't" situation. If true, that's inexcusable.

I find it ironic that your local specialist on Maseratis fixed a Ferarri dealer problem. As Tom suggested I would definitely speak to the dealer if it is your intention to rely on their services in the future. I hope they have a good explanation.

Enjoy the car in good health!

Mine does this most times I open the roof but sorts itself out while I'm driving. If it doesn't then the 'key trick' usually solves it for me (Press and hold unlock and open boot button together for 10 secs I think it is). Mine goes in for a service in 2 days to the same dealer so will see what they say.
