Never been to scar in my life. What is this area like? Demographics, growth, safety? Considering a business in the area, not to live there. Thanks!
ROLMAO ! The area is fine ....close to the highway. I wouldn't want a 24 hr retail business in the area, but it is a densely populated area. I would say income in the area is in the CDN average , but.....by Toronto standards it's low. It is better than what it was 25 yrs ago that's for sure. You will notice that the visible minority is the majority.
Scarborough has its fair share of problems.. probably the highest crime area in GTA You mention Warden/Eglinton, which is called "Golden Mile". Its a very popular thouroughfare with business, industrial and commercial being quite successful over the decades. For a retail/commercial business...anything north of 401, even north of Lawrence is fine. Avoid anywhere south of 401, Eglinton, especially down to Kingston Rd.
Not true - south of Kingston Road is home to some of nicest streets in the city. With dramatic lake views, a more temperate climate than the rest of the city and neighbors without attitude, I really like living here. Other than Kingston Road itself, there's no commercial space.
Danforth, Leslieville and the Beaches are in Scarborough and south or west of Kingston rd. They are all nice areas. Historically, Scarborough is the heavy industrial side of town. The prevailling wind blows from the west. It made sense to put the factories down wind of Toronto in the east end. The golden mile on eglington was all car dealerships pre 90's. Now it's a mix of condos, car dealerships....
Exactly, the Bluffs area is right near the old border of Toronto/Scarborough. You have the Beaches, Bluffs, etc. to the far south, which are all beautiful areas. But they are not far from Woodbine/Queen, Coxwell, and up to Kingston Rd which are where the 'nutbars' live. Jamie140 wasn't specific on the area or business he was looking into.. hard to determine exactly what info he needs. Maybe he can pinpoint an area which he's interested in.
