I'm interested in a car in BC but have no idea of the procedure.

Here in Quebec, we can basically sign off a transfer of ownership on the backside of our registration and hand it off to a buyer along with the car in exchange for payment. How is it done in BC?

Also, anyone know of a good place near Victoria, BC for a PPI?

Its the same here in BC. I just sold a Porsche to someone in Manitoba. I just gave them the registration signed over. BC to BC residents need to do a transfer tax form. But this form is skipped for an out of province buyer.

I was indeed also wondering about that tax form, thanks for the info, glad to hear I don't need it.

You should always fill out the tax transfer form its more of a bill of sale. no tax's are paid in BC if the car is going out of province.

We're going to fill out a contract, dated and signed.

But I'll take a look at the form again, I suppose it can't hurt.

Well, I sure have been talking about it long enough haven't I?

I still have to see it and check her out. If it's as nice and good as what the seller and the pictures say she's coming home with me.

I tought about it but honestly it would take 52 hours of driving (about 800$ of gas) + at least 3 nights in a hotel (100$ minimum per night) + adding 4000Kms to the car + tire wear, belts, rock chips, etc...

There is also the risk of accident, getting sleepy on the road, etc...

So, for 1300$ tax incl, I found Hansen's forwarding which will bring the car into Côte St-Luc by train and it takes about 2 weeks.

Flying out tomorrow morning and, if all is well, I'll come back with a big brother for the 355.

It can't hurt. But in general its a BC government form for BC, so not really needed to register the car in another province.

    Good luck with your trip!

Edit: I would go to Ferrari Vancouver for PPI. I dealt with them in the past. They have been very transparent.

Congratulations. Car looks great - love the color and, of course, the V-12. Swartz Bay ferry terminal? Are you driving it to Vancouver, then shipping, or did you decide to drive it all the way home? Bet you had more than a few (envious) lookers while in the ferry line-up.

No PPI, just bought it after checking it myself and taking a test drive. Paid the car 31000$ US so I doubt I'll regret it.

Congrats!!!! If you went through Swartz Bay, my aunt likely saw the car. :)

My aunt is the operations manager of Swartz Bay terminal. The terminal is laid out like the deck of a ferry. The control tower you see near the terminal. Well those people size up a car and assign it a lane. The lane assignment is the location of the ferry deck you'll be loaded onto. Just a little trivia.

My uncle was a first officer/relief captain on the spirit of Vancouver Island. He retired two years ago. Met my aunt working on the ferries back in 78.
