What were the big auto shows in Canada back in this time frame? Does any one have vintage pics?

More than likely Luigi cars... In the late '60s and early '70s, there were several cars ordered by George Woolley, listed as Montreal show cars according to the Hilary Raab book, but it seems to stop at around 1971 (eg. #12923, 12939, 14699, etc). Cars after that appear more regularly ordered by Luigi Della Grotta (but a few prior to that as well).

    Thanks for posting these.

I wish I could find photos of my GT4 at the '76 Chicago Auto show...

circa 1974 at the convention center on Derry Road in Toronto was the location for the auto show. Recall a brown Daytona spyder and a silver Dino Gts supplied by Yonge Steeles Motors in Willowdale Ontario. Also a silver Lamborghini Urraco...
There was also a red Dino 246 GT at the sportsman show at maybe the Canadian National Exhibition grounds about 1971.
Also saw a 1971 Daytona coupe at YSM that had just been returned to the dealer from an auto show. The Daytona was Azzurro Dino with a black interior and one of two ordered in that color.

The 1971 Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 serial number 14663 was used earlier at the Montreal auto show.
Also the 1971 Ferrari Daytona spyder serial number 14699 was displayed at the 1971 Montreal auto show. The spyder was likely painted 'fly yellow'.

Hillary Raab book doesn't say who the cars were delivered to.

Quite a few dealers in Canada at the time. Popovich, Young Steele, Clarke Simpkins (Vancouver), Woolley, Canadauto (? Also referred as Canarauto) and of course, Luigi Della Grotta.

Canarauto was the same Bill Popovich who had Yonge Steeles Motors in Willowdale Ontario.
Unfortunately have not seen the Hillary Raab book...

Bernie maybe you can find out the serial number for this Quebec Ferrari Daytona that was bought in 1970 by Rejean Houle? He lived in Wickham at the time.

I never could talk to that owner about his Ferrari Daytona....

Thanks for the info. I wonder why if it was the same person, the cars would be delivered under different names?

As for the book, here's a reference (there may be more available at lower prices). I believe this is out-of-print (was last published by Veloce Press. I bought my copy on Amazon in 2001):

When it comes to serial numbers and owner histories, I am in the dark with that. Quebec owners as of late, are getting pretty tight lipped about it.

Different attitude about the cars in those days. It was just another car which was driven in the winter as that picture taken in Quebec indicated.

I talked to a different Daytona owner ( another blue early coupe) who had the Ferrari for a few years and then sold it. To him just another sports car to drive anywhere without much caution and then get something new when the novelty wore off.
Pictured; in for service at the old Grand Touring dealership in downtown Toronto.

Must have been fun in the snow! Although after a few winter seasons, the rust would have been really bad.
