Recently acquired one of the 30 or so made factory 348 Challenge cars. If I am not mistaken 32 TB cars were made. Originally delivered Black over Black, I have found original photos of the car while it raced under #5 with Ferrari of Houston driven by Kevin Crowder. The car is currently painted in Arancio Borealis with "General Lee" graphics and is in amazing condition. Prior to making its home in Florida the car was owned by a well known Ferrari collector in the North East. To restore to original? Or not to restore? Will post more photos from the 1994-1995 Challenge series and photos of the car today! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you sure this wasn't Kim Fontana"s car 1994-5 ,also drove for Ferrari of Houston?? IlDottore(Stephen Earle MD)
Congrats! I love the 'General Lee' look it has, but I also agree and think you should restore it. Looking forward to seeing more pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I say restore as well but get lots of professional photos of it's current livery (like this one).
With apologies to AC/DC, I say "back in black". Seriously though, as the owner of one of the other factory 348CH tbs (the only one in Grigio Met.), I feel strongly that it should revert to its race livery. Besides, the world doesn't need more Confederate battle flags.
Sheez I'll bet you dinner you bring that to Carolina Motorsports park and many more people will take their picture next to that car than mock the confederate flag.
Your car is stunning. Saw it at PBIR last year. Already peeled off the Confederate battle flags... I agree... She will go back to black!
LOL true..you might be faster than a billy bob! lol No dog in that fight, but funny how this little puke that lived about 15 miles from me, entirely from his actions brought people together and got the flag taken down. Was there....just the reality of it as it has been highjacked long ago by the fringe racist. I did not mean to get into the political, but the car does have a feature that causes controversy. I say restore it to original challenge specs, I may have pictures of it. I know Bruce Miller will. Just too many hatters out there. opp posted before I read this. Contact Bruce Miller if you need more pictures. I think he took the ones you have there.
This car also belonged to a fellow Fchatter from Texas in recent years. He's the one that did the General Lee livery, if memory serves correct. And yes, correct. 32 TBs, 13 TSs. If you bring it back to prior conditions and have some parts to part with, drop me a line. (I have #14)
Short cruise in the Challenge car... a little hot in todays 84 degree weather.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have actually seen it on a few other original 348 Challenge cars, including a Purple livery car at a museum.
