Yes Chris, exactly. There were two starts with a 20 minutes wait between each other. The first was cancelled and the car had to go back and get ready for the second. The cold tires is the main reason for the accident.

that looks like too much entry speed, too much lock, too much brake and eyes probably focused exactly where he hit...went off line and looks like into some grit

    So, driver error.

Up to the driver to know his tires are cold, right? Not just shove it into a turn beyond the grip at that moment in time, eh?

Not saying I've never seen it before, had a friend really rap his CS for the exact same reason, except it was the back end that got loose and put him into the wall.

The damage seems cheaper to me... Probably about EUR 30000...
Labor in Greece and Italy is much cheaper than in the USA...
Also, parts you can get much better prices over here...
I hope he gets it fixed soon and returns to racing...

front bumper, left quarter panel/fender, hood, headlight assembly, winglet, wheel, suspension parts, left radiator, grill, possibly brake damage, countless underbody/hidden parts, hinges/latches. Add in paint and prep.

If it was repaired at a dealer in the USA it would be more like $100K and take several months to get all the parts from an out of production car. If he has it done by someone else it would still be at least $50,000.

Cold tires, little too much entry speed, too much brake while turning, got off line and into the loose marbles/dust. It happens, at least he is enjoying his car!
