Most valuable as in appreciating in value, or least loss on depreciation?

I'd say Porsche. The market is much better for Porsche and I think they would be easier to support and keep up and running, not to mention cheaper. I can only see a Ferrari race car as being and outdated money pit once they're old news. I've never noticed much demand for 360 or 430 race cars, so can't see why the 488 would change that, especially with it having gone turbo.

The 2017 Porsche is a purpose built racing car. It is closer to a prototype in every sense of the word. It has a genuine mid-engine layout and Porsche have managed to get away with it as have Ford - but have gone one better by readily admitting that they will not even build a road going version.

The racing car can be bought by a Racing team but it is even more expensive than the 488 (some 20-25% more).

To date, notwithstanding an unfavorable BoP, the 488 is more successful, having won the world championship on its maiden season and having been successful so far in 2017.

Why did Ferrari and Aston Martin not protest? (Ford 2016 and Porsche 2017)
Or maybe it would be better for Ferrari to create "prototype GTE" as well :)

Talking about Aston Martin, i'm curious to see with which model will replace the beautiful Vantage in the WEC and Endurance races in general.

The advantage that the 488 may have over the Porsche is that it can be converted from GT3 to GTE specs and back. This may give more options to owners in the future and also more spares.

Porsche! Ferrari servicing support and even car parts are just hard to find. Porsche gives you the look you're going for as well as the convenience to easily up keep it. I own a 2015 Porsche 911 GTS and its amazing.

We're talking about the GTE racing Models. Quite a different Story compared to any street cars. The future value of an ex Le Mans GTE Car is related to his racing career success and has nothing to do with the quality of service of your local car dealer nor any parts availability.

A multiple Le Mans Winner will make the race in terms of value.

The Porsche probably will cost more in the future because if I'm not mistaken they only have built cars for the official team so far less units in the market. Also I suppose that the rarity of a mid engine 911 will be interesting for collectors.

I think I read that the mid engine 911 will be available to customers next year.

That would be my guess. I would think at some point there will be some pressure on them to have the same configuration for the road car and the race car, even if this change is legal now.

Why are all the 'experts', the ones with no cars?

There has been precipitous rise in the value of 360 NGT and 430 race variants over the last few years.... especially if they have race history. As far as support, Corse Clienti provides support for customer cars, historic or current.

agree, and I would never call me an expert, even if I own a 458 GTE.

The Question was which of the two will rise in Value and this can be answered very easy, the future value of a historical GTE Version, no matter if Ferrari or Porsche (or Aston or Ford) is based on his success at Le Mans. This is the only thing that counts as this cars will become collectors cars and the racing success history is all what matters. a multiple Le Mans winner will be the most expensive one. and if it has the prancing horse batch even more.

it has nothing to do with parts availability, running costs or any street version of the cars. all the GTE Versions are a hell of expensive to run, managable only by experiencend, factory linked specialists.

Interesting discussion. BUT, sorry, most of you did not know what a big difference a real GTE car to road- or other racing cars is, it's hugh, really, really hugh!

Value in the future? History, history, history and here 90% Le Mans.

    And, what I know:

    Ford - not selling cars
    Porsche - not selling cars
Aston - all sold, always need money
    Corvette - for sale
Ferrari - possible if you get one ;-)
