Upcoming show with XJ220, EB110, Mclaren F1, 959, and others

Is this something that's done annually?

 

Hasn't been done before to my knowledge. But I hope it returns next year.

 

I do to. I have obligations this weekend yet the idea of missing the McF1 brings me to my knees.

Funny story about that #001 McLaren F1:
A few years ago, we scheduled to have a new chip put in our E550 AMG at a place downtown Chicago, but I was a bit sketchy about the place because of it's location South of the loop. However, upon arrival, I was a bit relieved as they had dozens of very impressive and extremely expensive cars in the garage. Turns out their primary business is storage and maintenance of exotic cars. As I randomly commented on a gorgeous 1970s classic car in front of me, the owner of the garage mention that it was previously driven around London by Mr McLaren himself. I then mentioned that the McLaren F1 was always my "unicorn", as I never, ever saw one in the flesh. He then nonchalantly points to two cars under wraps not ten feet from me and identifies them as McLaren F1 chassis #001 and #003. I was FLOORED! Would never, ever, in a millions years, had thought that these cars would be sitting in some random garage in Chicago.

So it's great to see that #001 will be out in the sun tomorrow! We'll take plenty of photos for you all.

And soon a McLaren F1 LM will be a part of that collection. Chassis LM2 was last seen in Baltimore undergoing modifications to import for street use before making its way to IL.

#001 owner bought LM2. Best ask Erik about #003. I don't know much about that other than it was in FL for a bit.

I was afraid it would turn out the way it did: This location is just awful as a backdrop to these gorgeous cars. I know you can take great pics but here your options were limited. Particularly with those fences.

I contemplated getting the VIP ticket (with the 1 hour before the baby strollers arrive) and it looks like you did that. But you can't undo the barricades.

Where was Andrew? He normally gets to these shows at the crack of dawn snapping shots when the cars roll in/get loaded off their transporters. That might have saved the day.

I so hope the long promised (and continually postponed) car show on Northerly Island will happen one of these years. That's a surrounding worthy of the cars. McD's not so much.

 

Andrew was there at 6am .

I still have to edit and go through my pics. But some cars were there overnight and they had 2 entrances so it was a gamble to see them pull in. I waited 45mns on Ontario to see the F1/GT40/Birdcage/LP400 arrive only to see them sneak up on Lasalle!

That shot of the McLaren is absolute killer! Well done.

 

Barriers limit you but I'm happy I was able to get a clear shot of every car. They're so much better than crowds of people.. and I'm sure the owners of these priceless cars would agree.

Very nice photo. Good to see all these local cars out on display. I would love it if the Chicago Concours people get a few of these cars. We will see next year if they can get it together.

On this display I am not sure why they crammed all the cars so close together and left such a wide walkway. Not the best plan, but the cars were amazing anyway. I came at around 1130, so the cheap tickets only as I was late.
