Decal phase completed. In this kit the decals are nice and flexible unlike some of the earlier 1/12 Ferrari's like the 62 and 64 GTO kits. No decal setting solution was required. The next step will be the first two coats of 2 part clear that will act as a "scratch coat". This will be wet sanded and any flaws corrected prior to the final clear coat and wets sand/polish phase.

The casting was nearly perfect out of the box...a cleanup and overall sanding was performed prior to primers.

I didn't t know this brand, and others brand who makes resin model. It seems,
after a small research Hiro factory looks one of the best company.

Great work, very interesting thread too.

Did the model coming with metal parts?
How many pieces are coming with this model Ferrari 335 ?

The paint finish you achieve on your models is excellent.

Thank you...paint is my favorite part of the build, that is generally why I start there. It's not conventional but it keeps my interest as I move through the build. I can do dry fits and mock ups that are more in context then just a primed body. Of coarse it requires careful handling in the process.

Great to see your work in progress. I wish I had the same skills as builders like you (or time, or space!)

Question: why do you apply scratch coat after applying the decals? In real life decals are also applied last. Are decals that vulnerable? I once had a model builder build a model for me who applied the decals last, claiming that this would look more authentic. Maybe also because the clear coats were more visible in those days, which would give an unrealistic look for the decals? Thanks.

It is a compromise. Purely to preserve them from drying out and yellowing. The clear also acts as a UV protectant.
