Again....stunning work Cyril, absolutely amazing I did not see if you answered this question in the other thread, so: Are they freehand works, or have you traced it? Anyway it looks absolutely great.... Best Carsten
Great work, Cyril! It doesn't really matter whether you did it freehand or not, but everyone knows how hard it is to get the proportions correct freehand. Even the masters used the technology of their day. They used a "glass" to project an image onto their canvas so they could get it proportioned much more quickly and much more accurately. I like it that Ferrari Chat is so friendly to artists, the more the merrier I say. Thor
Carsten and Thor, I put the picture of the real car in front of me and I do an approximate draft of the car (with light paper pencil). Then, I give gradually more accurate lines to the car until the proportions are good enough. For this, I rub out and trace again until it's perfect. Of course, it's very long and I have plenty of drawings not finished because I was not satisfied by the shape of the car. After that, the real work really begins again : make the body all silver with paper pencil and spray the colour with blotting-paper. I need to work all the while with an eraser to rub out all the colours which overstep the lines. Also big work to respect the shadows and dark parts of the car. When the body is finished, I colour all the black parts with felt-tip pen. Last, I do the "chromes" and the last details. But you belive it's now finished ??? Not yet as I still have to make the decour around the car. Same process than above. But sometimes, I do a dim decour to go faster. Shame on me !! This is what I did on this 365 GTB/4 !!! That Daytona art simply is terrific. I drift over the entire soft impressionistic image as my eye hops from each surprising detail to detail. The red tail lights and well placed colored details are such a pretty splash of warm color in the grey!
They are really masterpieces Cyril, you don't have to be ashamed of anything Believe me, I know it's a long and difficult process to get the proportions right in a drawing!!! Your works look absolutely astounding, and I like them very much! Seriously you should take it up again and do some new things! Best regards Carsten
I have enjoyed your work since you posted the first time over a year ago? Should you ever go pro I am sure there are owners who whould love to have your rendering of their cars. tongascrew
