Okay folks, I haven't had a cigar in a good while.

I like mellow, somewhat mild cigars.

Not really a price in mind.

What are some favorites?

Agreed but steer clear of the short stories. I just smoked a box that all developed a shocking amount of tar after smoking halfway through each cigar. Ruined the taste. I find the larger Hemingway's to be much better.

I'll be smoking a Gurkha Royal Brigade for the 4th, and Graycliff (original) until then.

What type of cut did you use. Punch and V cuts will sort of hold back the tar and keep the bitter taste away from your mouth.

If you like Rocky Patel, I just finished a few 1999 Vintage Connecticuts and really enjoyed them. On the lighter side of any of the other Vintages I've tried. They'll be a go to for the summer if I don't feel like experimenting.

What did you think of the 1990? I really enjoy them, but it has been about a month! Screw the Tatuaje Verocu Tubos, how was the Louis!?

I really liked the Patel 1990, great smoke start to finish. The Louis was wonderful from what I remember, glad I enjoyed that 1st as the evening wore on and the cheaper stuff came out. I've got about 3 glasses worth left in my bottle and I'm sure over the holiday weekend I'll have another pour.

I have a (Cohiba) Siglo V or two left in my stash, been in controlled aging for quite a few years. Lots going on as of late on my end, planning for latter August ignition for that one!

I like this one, a lot; then again I'm a maduro / robusto fan as-is (along w/ liking bold/rich medium-to-full bodied stuff at times). For ~$6, it's a quality cigar w/o a doubt. Only rec' I'd offer is to let it age a bit in your humidor. Def' a great light's-out/nite-cap type of smoke.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a promotion in March/April for a free sample from participating cigar/tobacco shops where they had some to hand-out. I'd assume left-over offerings remain & a reasonable proprietor would gladly hook you up if inquired upon (along w/ making other purchases).

HEY JOHN!
I did not know you were a cigar guy! I'm all over it! I'm going to be up in Olympia for a week starting July 11 - sans my 308 :-(.
Let's hook up one day/night for a smoke (and scotch?). Sammyb said for me to call him when I'm in town too.

Just got back from lunch and had a nice little package on my doorstep, just in time for the 4th. Now the hard part of which one first.

Like I said in the pm I just got back into them.

I had an Opus X while out golfing yesterday. Was a great cigar but it kept going out. Was very frustrating!!

Oh and we all had one of the MC 1999's the day before.

Good vacation so far!!

No worries, Whenever you get to them.

What are the LaGloria Serie N like?

I've got a friend that goes through a box of serie R No. 7 every week-two weeks. I thought I smoked a lot until I met him.
