First off, I'm a smoker, enjoy regular cigarettes. Smoke several different brands and other countries cigarettes. Not as good as cigars. But still good. Also admit I'm addicted to nicotine and have a pack per day habit.

Got that out of the way. I decided to try electric cigarettes. Main reason, albeit not healthy, they are less harmful then cigarettes. Also the wide variety of different flavors is appealing. Canada, well you can't get the nicotine spiked juice here. With ordering online, was concerned with Canada customs confiscating parcels. So I went with Blu, its sold in Costco and I can buy it in bulk. Only drawback, it doesn't deliver enough nicotine, not the same as a cigarette. I however did quit smoking for a few months. These are better then the patch for stop smoking. The patch gives a nicotine over time and its not satisfying. With the patch I just end up smoking with it on.

Now I've discovered a store that sells everything needed for electric cigarettes, well its just across the border 7 minutes from my house. Well not including crossing the border. They are the biggest online sellers. But its easier for me to go direct. So now I'm buying a whole new set up. Plan to switch full time to electric cigarettes.

    Anyone else doing this?

this is what I plan on buying: Innokin Beginner Starter Kit - Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes

I quit smoking a decade ago but know of a few that do E-cigs.
One calls it her "Nicotine delivery system". ;)

I guess if you have to "smoke" this is way better.
    Cigarettes are just nasty.

Perhaps there is a way to dial it down to wean off of nicotine altogether ?

Yes, you can dial down the nicotine. Even though you still inhale chemicals, its a lot lower then cigarettes. Can't call it healthy, but its overall better then smoking cigarettes.

Do think these things are embarrassing to use in public. I believe these things will become more popular then regular cigarettes. It will eventually kill off big tobacco.

To think these are any safer than cigarettes is naive at best.

And to be perfectly honest I don't want to sit next to someone smoking an ecigarette any more than a real a cigarette.

I didn't say its healthy, it is healthier then regular cigarettes. A regular cigarette contains carbon monoxide, tar, arsenic, ammonia, cyanide and acetone. Electric cigarettes don't have these or many of the other 7,000 chemicals in a regular cigarette.

For those who don't want to quit smoking or those that have had trouble quitting. Electric cigarettes are certainly a much better alternative.

E cigs should be consumed in smoking area's. Even though the vapor is harmless to bystanders. I even go outside to smoke in Vegas. Its the polite thing to do, even though you can smoke in the casinos.

I think they are fine if people are using them to taper off and quit. I don't get it if people want to use them on a regular basis but that's just my opinion. I suppose they are better than smoking cigs but I know the vapor exhaled is a lot more than just water like they claim.

The two things that bother me about them are...

#1- people think since they aren't real cigs they can "smoke" them anywhere they want. Although I'm starting to see more places control them the same as any tobacco.

#2-People, particularly younger folks it seems, think they are cool and have even taken to wearing them on a lanyard around their necks like an accessory?!? Again just my opinion but I think that is just goofy as hell. Then again, I'm probably an old fuddy duddy anyway. :)

And for the record, I'm the worst kind of smoker..... an ex-smoker. ;) Although I do have and enjoy an occasional cigar so I kind of get it in a roundabout way.

Most of the studies that conclude various dangers from e-cigs are done using the mass-marketed ones available in convenience and grocery stores. As such, of course they are going to have various chemicals and additives that increase the risks associated with using them.

That's why I only buy juice from local independent shops, where I can be sure of the ingredients. And when you are just looking at nicotine + flavoring + Vegetable Glycerin, the risks are minimal at best.

I am not disillusion, and inhaling the above mixture likely has more risk than not inhaling it at all. But that risk is likely a whole lot less than say, walking through a parking garage and breathing the air. And a heck of a lot less than smoking traditional cigarettes.

What is amazing about these are that many people dont think they look ridiculous using these things in no smoking environments.

I have employees that think it is okay to wear them around their necks, and randomly puff on them, even right in the middle of dealing with a customer.

I walk into a store a sitting in customer view is a case of vaping hardware that looks like a heroin junkie is working there.

Not to mention having to deal with people wanting to plug into our POS computer to charge. We have rules against that for phones.

I had a guy a few weeks ago telling me about his new ecig, that he could upload data from it to his computer and get puffing statistics. Ooooh, exciting. Argh.

People should use them in areas smoking is permitted.

I was in a electric cigarette store this afternoon. People inside the store puffing away and thought it was rude of them. Guess the last 20years of no public indoor smoking has me thinking these should be outside as well.

Having said that. I purchased this starter kit: iTaste MVP V2.0 Very good product, it delivers the kick of a cigarette. It was just over $30 bucks with extra juice. With the tobacco flavor its exactly like smoking. Bought it here: E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes Online | E Juice - Mt Baker Vapor

Did you think it rude or did you merely think it odd?

Both odd and rude. I don't want to breath vapor that has been inside someone else's lungs. These should be taken outside. I don't indoor smoke, even within areas I could. Like Vegas casinos all have smoking, I still go outside.

I don't smoke, but anytime you are in a room with at least one other person, you are breathing "vapor" that has been inside someone else's lungs.

If I did "smoke/vape," I'd expect to try out the product - at least at a store that specialized IN that product.

As a non-smoker? I don't go into cigar stores or vapor stores.

    Regulation is a given.

Here health Canada (like FDA) won't approve the nicotine e-cigs. So customs assumes its illegal and will confiscate products at the border. Can see in the states a similar "ban" on nicotine, especially when it cuts into tax revenue from traditional cigarettes.

Big tobacco is behind all those crazy stories saying ecigs are dangerous for your health etc. The crappy $5 ecigs from the convenience store are total junk and probably not good for you. Invest in a good mod or vaporizer with high quality juice and it is about as dangerous as eating vegetables. Using a decent setup is 1,000 times safer than smoking tobacco.

I personally use an istick battery with a Kanger Subtank and this setup runs about $110. Go into a high quality vape shop and sample the juices and find something you like. Buy a $40 starter kit and you are good to go. Most importantly find the flavor that you like - take your time- if you do not like the flavor in your unit, you will go back to smoking!
I smoked for 25 years and quit 3 days after I started vaping and have never had the desire to smoke again. Quite frankly now I also think it is disgusting and I cannot believe I ever did.
I do not think it looks odd - one bit! I do vape mostly where the smokers go but some establishments do not mind vaping. Yes if you do go in a vape shop be prepared to walk into a store that looks like a fog machine has gone off. These are the advanced guys with their dippers that put out huge clouds. That is not what a beginner is there for though!
    Vape on!

Yes, now we have a few Vape stores in BC that sell nicotine. Health Canada sends them letters to stop. But since no actual law or regulation on nicotine they can't stop them.

The first Innokin Beginner Starter Kit started leaking juice. Mt Baker vapes first tried changing tanks and it still leaked. They gave me a new one.

I like it a lot. Tried several flavors. I like their tobacco and Butterscotch the best.
