No, there wasn't an announcement, but... Why wait for the inevitable... Lets just be done with it already.
what? Why now? Does that mean we don't get the fancy parties with the little wieners and bacon wrapped asparigus? I thought we'd at least get a chance to enjoy the ride before we pull out the rug and say "SEE! we got ya! you should see the look on your face!"
Although I am not a Texan, I do know that if any state can get something done it's Texas. I have no doubt the GP will be on for Texas. We're not talking about California or New York here.
+1000 - Life long New Yorker but have been living outside of Dallas for over 2 years now... if it's a question about construction, forget it: these f**kers down here can build FAST. Even with 3 solid weeks of 100+ temps, the rate at which the highways down by me have been ripped apart and reconstructed/expanded is remarkable.
I think that people on this forum have been assuming that if Bernie has a venue that fails to produce a GP in the US he is off the hook with any agreement he has with FOTA. I'm inclined to believe that he is required to produce a race, not a contract for one.
LOL! If only Tavio had hooked up a working phone line....that Internet sales cr@p doesn't cut it, with megabuck contractors.... "No, I WON'T hold.........No, I WON'T push "1" for English"......just let me talk to the big t*tted Receptionist and have her make me a cup of coffee.....
*Never* have truer words been spoken! Unfortunately, as smart as the team principals are, the Evil Pygmy has got 'em all beat. I agree he's under pressure from FOTA to do a race in the US, but unless they insist he goes back to Indy (something he seems unwilling to do) I don't see it happening. If (when) Austin fails to deliver he simply throws up his arms and says "sorry guys, I tried. Oh, and by the way, here's a few million in compensation/hush money!" Cheers, Ian
I'm thinking that this whole dance is about Indy. But with the George family situation who will make it happen on their side?
+1 There was a pretty interesting article in R&T a few months back about the whole "George family bust up" - It seems the only guy who wanted the GP is now on the outside and his sisters are running the show - And they're bean counters As we know, if you count the beans hosting an F1 race rarely makes sense, so even if Bernie approached them I suspect they may tell him where to go..... They just don't want it (?) Cheers, Ian
Don't call me naive, and I still believe in it. I thought early on USGP would make it, but never had a strong opinion about it...this, I believe, because there is a vested interest in F1 being in the USA, and TEXAS usually does things right. MB
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85028 For a race to be run in 2 yrs in Texas its awfully quiet. Id say he is hedging his bets. If Texas comes off so be it. Given the fiscal situations in the states money needs to flow soon for Texas to get close. F1 races go on with or without the US. The US is not the make or break market for F1.
If Bernie is "100 Percent" certain that the Austin GP will happen, then why is he looking at NY? Too bad the supplicant reporters wont ask the obvious questions.
