They are claiming Massa has a 5 year contract, and his contract does not stipulate that he bring resources to the team. Pastor Maldonado is on his way out (which makes sense given Venezuela's blocking of Motorsport funding after some scandals recently...). Personally I think this is good. Williams will have Mercedes engines from next year onwards, and can always surprise. They will benefit from having him there.
A five year deal is an eternity in F1 especially given a driver of Massa's age. I hope that it happens but question the length of the contract.

Andy needs car count and he does not want someone to buy franks team now he needs a sucker and his money to buy one of the other teams right now . If f1 didn't have andy where would it be . +1 I suspect some type of fancy contract footwork here - We're used to it in the States, particularly in the NFL - Virtually none of 'em ever see out their deals, but I know it "helps" the bean counters out some. However, and I know I'll be flamed here, (happened before and I'm sure will again ) Phil is a great choice for them - They need someone with experience to help 'em get going in the right direction again. He may not be as quick as pre-accident, but he knows his way around the circus. A good signing that I really hope will help 'em make forward progress. Don't like seeing Franks team suck. Cheers, Ian

Indeed. Probably shouldn't spoil it in here though! +1 A season or two (but *five* does sound dodgy!) as the "undisputed" #1 should be good for both him and the team. He may just get his mojo back, and if they can give he a car he can drive I too will be very happy. Cheers, Ian

Well he just started following Williams on Twitter.... I don't believe the 5 year deal though. I believe 2 + option of X is more likely. I'm interested to see how Bottas holds up to him. He's done incredibly well against Loldonado and I suspect he'll better him every weekend .
