Maybe this is why Ecclestone mentioned 2 new teams in future. Probably he knows that some are already on the ropes ...
According to Pitpass, it's not a big deal; Don't know anything about the Russian dude, but Booth & Lowdon are long time 'players'. I could definitely be very wrong, but as long as they can get some $ from somewhere, they will likely stick around. May make a nice way for a newbie to get on the grid too....... I like following the 'travails' of the minnows. There's always a few bottom feeders and long may it continue! If my team had the same name as a company that just went out of business I would say it wasn't a big deal either. LOL Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
To say that Marussia has died presumes that it was once alive, which I question. I get around, but have never seen one "in the flesh", except for what appears to be a mock-up in their ersatz "showroom" in Monaco. Speaking of which, I'll be curious to see if that facility is still there when I'm in MC next month- I'm guessing that there's little need for a defunct (alleged) manufacturer to have a showroom . . .
Remember, it started life as Manor, then became Virgin, then Marussia. So what's another name? Consider other teams with many names: Jordan became Midland which became Spyker which became Force India. Or Tyrrell which became BAR which became Honda which became Brawn which became Mercedes. Or Stewart which became Jaguar which became Red Bull. The name game marches on.....
I read somewhere that the Marussia were built by Valmet in Finland. I am wondering how many were produced. There was also a video showing several cars on the road. No doubt their rarity will make them priceless in a few decades.
These guys missed a HUGE advertising opportunity. HotRussianBrides.com should have been their biggest sponsor.
I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but my guess is "0", if we're talking about actual, running, production cars (as opposed to mock-ups, test mules, etc.).
I guess you didn't read the quote; What's in a name? Absolutely nothing where F1 is concerned..... However, in their case particularly I think Bernie owes them some 10th place money, and he balks at paying that if they change their name - So, no wonder they want to keep it - Even 10th nets them quite a few million. Cheers, Ian
Waiting for PUTINF1 to take the grid... Putin himself designing, driving, doing the pitstops and getting FIA dispensation to do it all shirtless...
