Two new teams will join F1: - Haas (as covered in other threads already) - Kolles presumably with Dacia SPEEDWEEK Formel 1 - Zwölftes Formel-1-Team Haas: Heute von FIA bestätigt? But to top it off, there might even be a third team: - BMW According to Minardi, there will be a BMW executives board session in May where they will decide whether to join F1 again or not. The reason for their renewed interest is that the current formula is a lot more relevant to the road cars they want to sell. SPEEDWEEK Formel 1 - Formel-1-Rückkehr von BMW ? Entscheidung im Mai? Personally I also suspect that watching their arch rival MB walk away with WDC and WCC might ignite some passion back into the Bavarians. I'm thrilled to see that the new engine formula is so attractive to engine manufacturers. PS: Of course here on FChat F1 sux and is dead and buried.
If BMW comes back, maybe they should take over Lotus. Get rid of Lopez and co and run this team properly.
I'd hate to see the name Lotus disappear. I'd prefer another Sauber/BMW combo. It is also way too early to say whether BMW comes back as a team or "just" as an engine manufacturer
Well, the name Lotus currently is an embarrassment with the Bahar fiasco and the disassociation of the team with the car company a few years ago. I was as big a Lotus fan as any through to the 80s, but I feel zero nostalgia or sentiment towards the current Team Enstone that only wears the name Lotus through a bizarre fluke of a failed marketing disaster.
Dacia is owned by Renault, it makes little sense for them to jump into F1 like that. Probably more a title sponsor than anything.
I'd love to see BMW back in the game. Merc just overtook them last year with regards to sales figures so I'm sure BMW wants the tech to make a more competitive product in what is a much more industry relevant formula 1 now, and it's about damn time.
The supposed 'death' of F1 touted by many recently may just be the rebirth of a competitive grid. VW next...hopefully
That would be great under the Bugatti name and or Lamborghini... but prefere Bugatti...and if Ferrari would brand their customer engines under Alfa it would be like the 1930's again... Mercedes, Alfa, Bugatti, with new boys Ferrari out there!
Sauber BMW would be nice again. I was mentioning Lotus because I can't see them going much longer. The team in Enstone is good, they're operating on almost no budget now and very few people work there compared to 2 years ago. Their current car isn't great but it has potential...if the rear end gets sorted they'll be fighting for points.
I'm wondering if we will see a sort of rebirth in F1 in a sense that becuase we may see more manufacturers getting into the game, they will need teams to pawn their product, which in turn means many more independent teams and/or factory works teams. This new technology is incredibly important to the automotive industry and every manufacturer needs these test beds in f1 to develop this absolutely paramount technology. I'd by tickled to see 18 teams or so. Monaco would suck though, what a mess that would be.
VW should bring all of their former GP participants back at the same time: Bugatti and Auto Union as constructors while Lambo and Porsche supply engines. That'll guarantee VAG winning everytime out in the "new look" F1.
Me neither but the chance of having all the great names back is a wet dream Meanwhile I enjoy the Silberpfeile
