Well i am back at Silverstone tomorrow for testing. Dont know ehich cars will have them on. I am curious as to what the 18in whells and tyres will look like. I dont think that the wheels will be in a finalised state, but it should give some idea on how they will look.

    Lotus will have them

No idea why they're testing such tires on such a terrible car but whatever....

Have you seen what they are proposing for the new formular E class? Its said that fans who watch it can vote for the driver they want to get a power boost live while watching the race. Lol, now Bernie missed a trick there:)
    Its called "fanboost" http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=16&i=30129

18" is to make the F1-development(s) relevant/more applicable to the road going cars.

I think even Prius' use 15" and above nowadays.

I am currently in the stands opposite the pits. Nice dry day so far with some good track action. A little disappointed the Lotus does not have the 18in wheels on, maybe later.

The original reason for the 13 inch rim limit was to limit brake size.

Now if they'd restrict F1 to iron brakes, I'd be all over the upgrade to big rims.
(Or, at least, production car materials.)

Stiffer tires in the corners, less ability to use 100% braking every corner: increased passing, without all the push-to-pass ERS and flappy wing games.

And less issue with SC periods. Cold carbon brakes on standing restarts is likely a bad combination.

I think they look great. 19 would be even better. You've got the world's most technically advanced cars running on the same size wheels that they put on Yugos.
