Its funny that in the same month they'll then fly to Azerbijan. All this fuel saving by F1 cars ruined in probably half that flight. Got to love F1 logic .
There is plenty of fans for both events. My informal read is that not that many people from central Mexico go to Austin. The Mexico City race will be packed.
I'm afraid so... After the last GP in '92, the owners created a baseball park (!!) in the inner part of the Peraltada and they built some grands stands there. When CART visited it in 2002, they didn't want to demolish those grandstands (used for concerts too) so they modified the track so that it would pass through the baseball field (!!!). I heard Tilke may be involved in updating it. I hope that they do a good job. The very first layout had a lot of character from Monza and the esses like parts from Silverstone.
The Peraltada as such was lost many years ago as the turn was leveled and there is no more banking. The actual curve is still there. These are the circuit's current layouts. Autódromo Hnos. Rodríguez
Exactly. The Mexican presence at the USGP has been greatly exaggerated imho. If COTA's management is worth half a damn, this should cause them no problem at all. And yes, the Mexico race will be packed.
New CIE video outlines renovations to be done to Circuito Hermanos Rodriguez for the Mexican GP. Wow. Reserved seating capacity of 120K in Grandstands + 30K in General Admission. New & expanded pits & paddock, renovation of the baseball stadium.... Very cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXUTef8mM-k#t=233
Mexico City press tour pics... Here's the Foro Sol, the old baseball stadium where the old track will divert to avoid using the entire Peraltada. Pit building under construction, shot from the paddock side.

I'm def going to this race! Now I just gotta research some nightlife. Anyone know any good clubs, or as they call them, antros?
Picked up a special magazine at the local Walmart here in Mexico. Entire publication was about F1's return to Mexico. Track diagrams, grandstand locations, etc. Looks interesting. Just not sure of the exact location in the city. Mexico City is still not very safe. So where to stay will be an important decision. Wife and I are planning to go.
All About Mexico City - Mexico City Nightlife If you want super safe stick to the hotel top clubs. If you want to go nuts with a latin flavor try a Flamenco club. You can buy whole bottles. They tell me I had fun.
I'm looking for that electronic music. Looks like I'll have to go to La Condesa or with the posh folk at Polanco. Thank you though!.
