It is early days for Ricciardo - he must have some performance based escalator built into his fees. Vettel also started low but with consistently good performances had worked himself into 8 figures.
wow, a huge drop off from Rosberg to Massa. Considering there are only 22 of these drivers, I would have expected the lower end guys to be paid even more.
I guess these numbers don't include performance related bonuses ? As we've seen for kimi last year, it can make a big difference...
Ricci's stock value will have certainly shot up at the end of this season if he carries on performing like he has been.
Source? I don't think the guys at the bottom of that list make dollar (or Euro) one..... Most of them are bringing money to their teams in return for their drives. Sorry, reads like BS to me. Cheers, Ian
most F1 drivers get paid? I thought your rich dad pays the team or at least brings international sponsors.
I thought such was the case for Pastor Maldonado, at least. Now I'm really perplexed as to how he still has a seat with Lotus.
Clearly Bottas and Riccardo deserve a pay raise after this season!! The others - not so much but you can hardly blame them for making their $$ while they can.
^^ that's a good point (pardon the pun), but surely the salary figures posted are just basic salaries. Like bankers, that doesn't tell half the story of what their total packages are. Would be more interesting to see total earnings including points bonuses, and endorsements...
Yes. Quite harder to predict that though. Drivers like Schumacher (and Lauda, for instance) got paid MILLIONS a year just to wear a hat. If Bottas continues the way he does this year, and considering how bad the car was last year, I don't think it would be unreasonable that he'll walk away with 10m in point based bonus alone...
I thought it was 3m + 50k pp...down from 5m and ???pp in 2012. He did better than expected in 2012 and single handedly almost bankrupted the team, so they apparently revised his salary to a lower (base) amount. Not that it had much effect as they simply didn't pay him (I wonder if they ever did?)
