Sebastian Vettel tries Sochi F1 layout ahead of Russian Grand Prix - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com
Actually, I don't think it looks bad at all! With all the whining about monster run off areas at least they've got some stuff to hit here.... Almost appears to be more of a "street circuit" than the other recent Tilke domes. Wonder what the over/under is on The Rev being the first into the barriers? Cheers, Ian
ugly! The main grandstands look like the "Brutalist" styled buildings constructed during the communist period
I beg to differ. Although, I can't say I've ever really seen an "attractive" grandstand!.... Goes round the Olympic village, and there's some pretty nice architecture there. I'll keep an open mind on it. Cheers, Ian
+1 Im sure it looks better in person and from the air. Charlie Whiting is very pleased so if the race goes on Im sure it will be a success for the teams in respect to the facilities built.
Those concrete walls by the side of the all the straights look dreadful and can only be more dangerous. Surely not permanent? If they are, the spectator views from the side of the track will be terrible - but at least we will get lost of safety cars Either way, I'm sitting on the fence till I see them racing here - if they race...
More grandstands to be constructed, will anyone sit in them? I'm sure the place will look nicer with a bazillion Pirelli or Rolex or Skoda or Vodka signs up!
About a 3:14 lap, maybe the Caterham guys could use a few of those Infinitis? Vettel was actually smiling, wow! You'd think the Infiniti/Sochi folks could have come up with something better than a wind-blown cell phone quality video, but it's nice to see the track!
I don't mind big runoff areas, but make them look good. I forget what track it is where the runoff areas are completely painted. The course really stands out from the runoff that way. I think it's very visually displeasing to basically see an open expanse of blacktop like a parking lot with lines painted on it... sorda like what they did at Monza. Looks poor to me. Eiter way, when I look at this track, i see this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's still not 100% finished, final touches still being done. I have no idea to judge if it's crap or not. So far, besides Austin, pretty much all the newer tracks in F1 are crap, with Singapore and Valencia being the worst.
