I know this title seems like fantasy but allegedly all the teams agreed amongst themselves to ask Pirelli to change the compound for Interlagos

"After further technical analysis of the impact of the revised circuit surface, together with a risk assessment suggesting a low probability of compound overheating due to extreme track temperatures, we have made this change with the unanimous agreement of all 11 teams."

Massa was in the press outlining exactly why the original tire choice was stupid. He was fairly blunt about it lol! Glad they listened to the drivers. More than 1 was saying the choice was not optimal.
For Sochi Pirelli didnt even test or have anyone analyze the surface according to the press. Slow to learn Id say.

I think a rule of thumb for a brand new circuit is that it will have probably have relatively low grip, and the softest compounds should be brought. Pirelli dropped the ball at Sochi.

Pirelli rightly erred on the side of conservatism.
    Wise.
