How do you know for sure that Bernie actually said they definitely will not be there as implied by your title ? You don't

Whilst it may prove correct right now there are no facts

And with the best will in the world motorsports.com seems not to originate stories but just regurgitate others - just like most of the posts here

Sorry Greyboxer, it sliped my mind that i should run my posts past you first.
However here is a link to what Bernie said last night, please feel free to email him or indeed ring him to make sure he has his facts straight.

Last week Bernie was quoted as saying there would be a Madrid Grand Prix

This week he was quoted as denying it

Reuters also add the caveat "Neither team was immediately contactable on Saturday."

So you dont think the possibility of marrusia missing the US GP is worthy of talking about on an F1 forum them?
Over half of the threads on here are based on far less than this one.

I accept both your points however the certainty of your title is clearly not (yet) accurate

Unlike yours my thread title came with a question mark at the end precisely because I did not know if it was fact

    Just curious,...

2 teams out would mean only 18 cars attend the GP...

What are the rules that "require" F1 to have a minimum of 20 cars? I'm sure Bernie has an out,... or he would have paid the transport cost...

Who really cares? Either Hamilton or Rosberg will win in this cluster fudge of a season.

The only drama this year in every race is if Hamilton will be mad at Rosberg or Rosberg will be mad at Hamilton. Then there is the third possibility for drama

    Neither are mad at either.

That is exactly why this matters... Way more interesting than the races.

An analysis again from Joe Saward. The article states Bernie only needs 20 cars to be in compliance with the FIA. Also mentions of the financial bonus to other's if there is no 11th team on the grid. Interesting.

How is So. Beach treating you? :)

wait so 2 teams arent running in the next race.

    so 18 cars

The only point of q1 is to see who can get into q2 then lol out of the saubers and lotus. but kind of pointless qualifying

The bubble is bursting! F1 is too expensive.

Several teams are running out of money and are living way betond their means to keep up.

Even Sauber and Lotus have debts and are struggling.

Some teams are not paying their suppliers or their staff.

The case for 3-car teams (for the well funded ones) and customer cars makes more sense day by day.

The FIA have already stated that if there are less than 20 entries in the remaining three races, they will not enforce the three car rule for the top teams as it would not be logistically possible at this late stage in the season.

Could it be that Marussia don't want to be Billy no-mates at the Grand Prix, running around all on their own with no one to play with?

    What's so special about Rossi?
He is hardly going to set the world alight.
At best he would have been at the tail end of the field. LOL

I was looking forward to deSilvestro in a Sauber, but she's been cut for not having enough money as a pay-driver.

Mad Max solicited the new teams with the promise of a "budget" series.
Then they pulled this "Green" rework on the teams.
    Without dropping the testing limits.
So the big computer simulators go online.

And the marginal teams are going under.

Think Prodrive might have fared any better?

    Massive mismanagement.

I think they probably should have had a break-away series.
We'd still have racing, possibly at the classic venues, instead of a series of poorly attended Tilke tracks.

I'm just waiting for one of the teams to claim they're skipping Texas to avoid ebola. ;)

18 cars on the grid will look pathetic. That's the bottom line. F1 cannot survive with that few cars on the grid and I'm sure the big wigs know this. Changes will be made over winter to save 2015 from being a complete disaster - or at least we better hope so!

A small field doesn't preclude an interesting race since most of the non-participants would be tail-enders anyway.

But for Bernie and FOM, it must be a breach of contract vis-a-vis the organisers who pay very high fees to be granted a GP.

I am wondering if Austin will get a discount for that!
