What's the best non-fiction racing book you have ever read?
First thing to came to mind, even though it isn't F1. Amazon.com: Beast: The Top Secret Ilmor-Penske Race Car That Shocked the World at the 1994 Indy 500 eBook: Jade Gurss, Mario Illien: Kindle Store This was the beginning of the end of outright innovation in the Indy car series.
That was a good book, and I got to see the beasts race at Indy in '94 (I had actually gone to see Mansell and to see Mario in his last Indy 500). The book has a flaw: No interviews with Roger Penske. I can't see how the author could have simply forgotten to do this, so Penske must have declined for some reason. It would be nice to know why.
For racing & cars: All but my life - Stirling Moss Faster - Peter Manso Stewart Jackie Stewart autobiography - excellent Mein Story - Niki Lauda - also very good Enzo Ferrari - Peter Brock Any autocourse until 2005 - the newer ones have more pictures less writing The Cruel Sport - Robert Dailey lots of pictures but some good reading.
Life at the Limit by Graham Hill - autobiography of the 2 time world champion. Well written, and a good mix of race results and off-track adventures.
I liked "Ford: The Dust & the Glory" by Leo Levine. I'm referring to the original book which covered through 1967; he eventually did a sequel which I haven't read.
