    In terms of strategy;

I think it would be advantageous for Lewis to run a very low downforce set up this weekend. IIRC williams have had an advantage in trap speed the entire season and the only passing opportunities seem to be on the straights in the DRS zones. So if Lewis gets stuck behind a Williams he wants to have the straightline pace to ensure he can at least get into p2.

Having downforce for the corners isnt as important given he shouldnt try to compete with nico this weekend.

    Thoughts?

Only way he loses is a mechanical problem. He should cruise to it.

If the Honda PU is up to scratch Mclaren will be rocking up at the front end IMO..

Neweys ex right hand man, has made a nice carbon copy (pun intended) of that RB front wing, now stuck on ze Mc-attack car..

The Mercs seem quite dominant here. They are basically competing with reliability for the WDC...

It looks that way... I think the rest of the drivers want to stay out of the title fight as much as possible also. They all understand whats on the line.

I think so too. I think even Massa, who has been a thorn in Hamilton's side for a few years, spoke up for Hamilton during one of his dnf's this year (Spa). I don't think there is anyone on the grid who would side with either guy to give an advantage to the other.

Barring failure (which would be the case with/without double points), Hamilton is in a good position for his second title. Seems like he doesn't plan to just sit back and cruise to second place in the race either.

Yes but, lets hope he realizes, or is at least wise to the fact, he doesn't have to prove that he can blow everything off the track, and certainly not Nico, on this occasion.

Perhaps Nico will just t-bone him in the first corner and end the drama.

I'm wondering how it'll be if Ham gets pole. Nico knows... or he should kow.. that he really can't pass Lewis. I'm wondering if the urgency will have him locking up and sliding through the corner or into Lewis. I hope the pressue doesn't get to him like it seemingly has in the past and we end up with one of those epic Bahrain style races.

If any of them see a Merc - either Merc - in their mirrors on Sunday I suspect they'll get out of the way PDQ!.... Who would want to be remembered as 'the guy who cost <Hammy/Nico>' the title!?

[Aside: I confess to watching (some of) the taxicab finale last week.... The other guys fairly *leapt* out of the contenders way. I suspect we'll see the same here, except few of them will ever be in the way!;)]

    +1

It's his for the taking. As I said before, if he keeps his nose clean there's nothing Nico can do.

He may indeed make the mistake of *not* sitting back and cruising to second place as you say. Then it could get really interesting.....

Somewhat OT, but can anyone imagine the pressure the Merc engineers/mechanics are feeling right now? Hopefully it doesn't come down to a botched pit stop (ala Phil and the fuel hose etc!)

    Cheers,
    Ian
