It will save them a ton of cash. But, will they be competitive in 2015? Haas F1 Just Bought Marussia's Factory In England
Out of all the recent (all the way back to Aguri Super Friends) entrants, Haas seems to have his head firmly bolted onto his shoulders....well, other than getting into F1 in the first place. He doesn't own a crappy airline, so that alone says something.
... shopping Formula 1 as a proving ground to evaluate efficacy of experimental ideas in automotive engineering, is supposed to be what F1's all about. Caught up in the romance of being glamorous, being in F1 for the sake of being in F1, yearning to be one of the beautiful people, is the wrong reason for being in F1. Gene Haas, leader of men. Utterly clueless, the only experimental ideas this country bumpkin brings, to F1: (1) shop someone else's chassis, (2) pay the Italians to ship him engines, (3) pay the English to figure out how to put the whole thing together for him, then (4) trick Bob Parsons into footing the tab, putting his "Vanilla Popsicle" in the car (e.g., Danica Patrick). Way to go, Gene! Those sure are some groundbreaking, cutting edge ideas! -- asj.
I'm afraid you missed the whole point to Mr. Haas' entry into F1. He intends to use it as an advertising tool to expand his business. Mr. Haas is the largest manufacturer of CNC machine tools in the Western world. He wants to use F1 to increase his global market. You may think he is a bumpkin, but he started the company that makes the best machine tools in the world and he became a billionaire in so doing.
... even the Speedvision (e.g., the Speed Channel) had a better F1 web site, than Gene Haas. This is as shallow, slapdash and indifferent an F1 web site as I've ever seen: https://www.haasf1team.com/index.php If his web site's any indication, Gene Haas is about to lose one heck of a lot of money -- asj.
What did Gene Haas ever do to you? BTW he also owns a wind tunnel that is capable of accommodating full scale cars at up to 180 mph wind speed and rolling roadway at 180 mph. It may be the worlds best wind tunnel. Windshear, Inc. Wind Tunnel - 180-MPH Rolling-Road Wind Tunnel
Angry elf, smh, did you get coal for Christmas. The man is a proven successful businessman and Nascar team owner. Let him spend his money as he likes. He's made patient, and smart moves thus far. At least wait til their on track to give them a hard time. I don't recall the last website that won an F1 race, or even took to the grid.....
Still a big fan of Haas giving it a shot. Again, for a businessman willing to take risks, I give him plenty of respect and get irritated at such negative criticism from others, but we're all entitled to our opinions.
Haas should be welcome in F1, and not laughed at. There hasn't been a F1 US team for decades. Also, he starts from a better footing than some recent attempts to enter F1. I hope the Ferrari engine (sorry, power unit) doesn't prove to be the weakest link.
